Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 9 years agoWow @justsewit, that’s a lot of info for me to take in! Thank you!
@Reeni Yes, it will be Spring, but Brisbane will be quite warm already (one year we visited in August, and I didn’t take any short sleeve clothes… Silly me had to go shopping!)
I’ve been looking too – wondering about this kit…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 9 years agoTamara, thankfully in 2nd grade they only compare how well their dresses spin! 😀
I do remember for my own first communion in Catholic school we had a uniform — a very sweet empire-waist puff sleeve affair in voile.
How old is your girl for confirmation — is it 7th or 8th grade? At that time (even more so than others) they grow like weeds and…[Read more] -

I’m wondering, if Liesl might stock it in her shop if there was enough interest? The last link looked really great a d I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on some decent see throug rulers. And also the grid paper that is used for pattern making. It might help with the many many alterations I have to do.

Thanks, y’all! I am genuinely surprised how hard it is to find! I found this one: http://www.fashion-school.com.au/products/pattern-makinggrading-ruler/ , in case anyone else is on the hunt. I do love the combo inches/metric option — thanks for all the suggestions!!

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 9 years ago@jay_1965vw that gown is gorgeous! Now I have to beg the question. Do you want to go heirloom-y and have one just for Dot or are you after something more simple to “get the job done”. Do you want embroidery, smocking etc?
I would do a natural fibre, even though I am not really familiar with Queensland weather in September but I can imagine that…[Read more]

@needlewoman so glad you made it back on Fi! Yes I was one of those “lucky” people who got the message also. To me it was such an obvious “this is a hoax” type email. They are not very imaginative when it comes to things like this that is for sure.

Yeah, me too, dubhels. Aren’t some people ‘ordinary’? Luckily, we have each other on this forum to suss the fakers out. I did see Todd’s post about the scammer but my email was dated later, and I just wanted to be sure. Sorry that you ladies were ‘puzzled’ too. C’est la vie. On a happier note, I hope you all had a nice Mothers’ Day, last weekend.…[Read more]

Try these guys-
https://www.fashionsuppliesinc.com/fashion-design-pattern-making-tools-1/fashion-design-rulers-curves.html
Give them a call- I’ve bought a metric ruler from them at the international quilt show, so I know they stock them, they just don’t have it on their website. -

Ditto for me, needlewoman. I also received email from someone who wanted to contact me for friendship. This person also claimed to have read my profile. Like you, I do not have a profile. I’m sure it’s the spam message Oliver + S referred to in the email.
