@thesimpson5 I am very sure Liesl and some other ladies will chime in here. I had a good look at the photos and from what I can see is there are wirnkles that are not “it’s too tight” wrinkles but “there’s too much fabric” wrinkles on the skirt part of the back dress. They are pointing away but look baggy which says to me you need to take it up…[Read more]

I could use a little help here sewing friends. I’ve successfully made a small bust alteration and feel really good about my muslin as far as that goes. However, the backside has some problems and I’m not sure whether to adjust the darts or adjust at the center back seam. I tried taking it in some along the center back seam, but that didn’t seem to…[Read more]

Tamara replied to the topic French seams for the side seam? in the forum oliver + s: class picnic 9 years ago
Hi Jennifer I can confirm that French seams can be done on the side seams as I have done them myself. I did a 1/4 inch wrong sides together then trimmed to 1/8inch, pressed the seam and turned the whole side through to the inside pinned and stitched again using a 1/4 inch seam. The fact that the arm and body are intact should not make a difference…[Read more]

Hi Maggie
Just confirming, you used French seams on the class picnic blouse? I am struggling to think how to do them on the side seams given the sleeves are already attached.Thank you!

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Lengthen culottes in the forum oliver + s: lunch box tee + culottes 9 years ago
The culottes have a very dropped crotch, so this is one pattern where you’d probably get away with not making changes.
However, beware making such big size changes as you’ll lose the proportions of the pattern and could end up with something quite odd.
Perhaps you could make the 2T with size 4 leg length.
You could run a tape measure from front…[Read more] -

My daughter is ultra slim. She falls under the 12-18m for her waist but she needs the 4T length. I thought of using the 12-18m pattern and adding length, but the crotch part would be too tight, right? Any tips on how I should alter the pattern?
