Oh that is excellent news @todd. I think it’s even better knowing where your kidney is going but of course there wouldn’t be much more than that. Please send Liesl our best. Really glad to know she’s up and about already. Major surgery has a tendency to knock you for a six if you’re no careful!

@dubhels2003 such a lovely kind person you are😀

That is so nice and thoughtful of you! I know Liesl will appreciate it. She is a voracious reader, and I know she will look at every link posted here and then will go looking for more. So, yes, everyone please add links to anything you have read or seen lately that you think she would like.

And here is a short update for those of you who are…[Read more]

Oh glad we helped. I didn’t actually see Heidi’s post before mine for some reason but isn’t it good you got two votes for one pattern.

We are currently having stupid power surges and I just bought a $20 pdf pattern that only has three goes at downloading😩.

I so far have halfmade skirt that have been put aside for the moment in favour of fitting…[Read more]

I thought about starting a thread for posting links to interesting creative articles, images and inspiration which the awesome Liesl could peruse while convalescing.

I came to the oliver + s forums during my first period of maternity leave and I think I read every forum entry during the middle of the night, so maybe these links will also be of…[Read more]

    Absolutely @jesims.
I have a tute here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/quick-bedtime-story-tutorial.html so you can see the construction.

I would leave off the sleeve, add a flutter and bind the arm sleeve.

Best of luck to wee P.

Do you think it would be possible to change the sleeve to a flutter sleeve?

P is having her tonsils out and I wanted to make her a comfy pair of PJ’s to wear afterwards. She can be quite sensitive about fit and fabrics w/o having undergone surgery. I think she might be more comfortable w/ a flutter sleeve than the traditional kimono…[Read more]

    @justsewit & @withloveheidi

Thanks! Funny you mentioned badminton, because I was thinking of buying that to make school skirts. She liked the butterfly, but hated wearing both shorts and skirts (2 waist bands) so I was thinking badminton for the skort for school!

And I love that Tania culotte. The shorter version is exactly what she…[Read more]

  • Tamara replied to the topic Seam allowances in the forum off topic 9 years ago

Hi @campergirl the seam allowances are always added into the Oliver and s patterns which is extremely convenient. Just as a general rule of thumb, if the pattern is for a woven fabric, then the seam allowance is 1/2″ and if it is a knit pattern then 1/4″ is used. It usually states this at the beginning of the instructions.

So 1/2″ for the bucket…[Read more]

I have just printed the lovely reversible hat pattern and cut it out. However, I can’t find out if the 1/2″ seam allowance is included in the pattern or should I add it on before I start cutting the fabric?
    Thanks very much

I’ve just made a long journey home
And the dishwasher’s all full of foam.

  • Todd Gibson replied to the topic Selling patterns? in the forum off topic 9 years ago

@mari, unfortunately that particular pattern will never be available again. Simplicity took it out of print, and it will not be re-released.

We don’t have a “wanted” board here, but I do know that pattern shows up on eBay every once in a while. You could check there for it.

I really enjoyed this season much like the others, it’s over so quickly and will now have to wait another 12 months before / if there is a new series. I agree that there was no real stand out as to who would win.
I thought that it was sad that May was let go, I thought her and Patrick were a good team. The new lady seems pretty good as well and…[Read more]

  • Glad you also enjoyed it Nicole! She was tiny, Im sure the sizings have changed since the 50’s! I agree with the industrial part of the costumes, they said that back then costumes were re used and changed for other actresses to save money. In particular that gold lame dress that was there in the glass cabinet was used on several other leading…[Read more]

  • So glad you enjoyed it. I read once that Marilyn was a size 16 but then that is not considered tiny! But I think if she was tiny how small would Audrey Hepburn have been? And Smash was a great program to watch!

  • It was a good as you said it would be @lisamm.

    Marilyn was tiny!

She looked to be so curvaceous in her movies but it must have been her tiny waist over emphasising her bust and hips.

Tildy was enthralled with the movie clips, Hugo devoured all the written memorabilia and Liddy, Zara and Elsie swooned over the clothes.

I was amazed at how…[Read more]
