I think the 2+2 would be gorgeous. Just under the tie, instead of the tab.
ASM Blue did a gorgeous Ice Cream blouse. I would use gingham, so I could stitch the squares, rather then pleat.I still love French knots.

Sew Alongs 9 years agoThanks for this, @snoutfair! It’s really helpful to us to know that these are useful to you, and the more feedback we receive the more likely we are to them again in the future. Thanks also for the reminder regarding the elastic; I’ll drop another email to Butterick to see if they can give me a number now!

Sew Alongs 9 years agoThat’s a good idea — I read much more than I comment, or I get busy but bookmark things for future use — but it must seem like radio silence from the other end!

Sew Alongs 9 years agoInteresting, Sarvi! Thanks for the explanation.
Hey, will everyone who followed/follows the sew-along do me a favor and leave a quick note here telling us you made use of it? It will help a lot with deciding whether to do more sew-alongs in the future if we can gauge the level of interest and participation.
Cheers!

Hm, good question! I assumed as the thread starter you’d have an edit button somewhere, but perhaps I have made an ASS of U and ME as the old saying goes.

Sew Alongs 9 years agoMay Grey (and its buddy, June Gloom) are weird patches of overcast skies that come along between Spring and Summer here in Los Angeles. You’ve been having a nice time hiking in April, then you lose the blue skies (but oddly enough, not the penetrating heat of the sun — so if you look outside you’ll want to grab a sweater, but then you open your…[Read more]

Sew Alongs 9 years agoYay! The suits look great. I love the boning and all the “grown up” lady aspects of this pattern. I’ll miss the sewalong deadline but I’m right behind you, just six months behind… 🙂

Sew Alongs 9 years agoThose are really nice, I like the cut a lot particularly on the bottoms. That’s something I can wear. I am still looking for the right fabric — and sewing time — but would love to get a pair done by the time May Grey is over in Los Angeles.

Tamara, could I suggest editing the title of this thread to read “question about sending private messages” or similar as it appears Leslie might have mistaken this for a private conversation between the two of you.

Sarvi replied to the topic Sizing question in the forum oliver + s: popover 9 years ago
Looks like the Popover Dress size chart lists garment measurements rather than body measurements. Looking at the body measurement chart for another pattern, 22.5″ puts you in a size 4 — so it sounds like your cute dress with the size 6 chest can accommodate any surprise growth spurts this summer and perhaps take you through winter as well, with a…[Read more]

I have bought from the Fabric Store and the quality is fabulous. I wonder whether Rockywoods would have anything suitable?

@justsewit I have always gone in person yo the Melbourne store. There are stores in Wellington (NZ), Sydney & Melbourne (Aus) and Los Angeles (U.S.A.)
I guess they’d ship from whichever had stock and was closest to you.
Now that it has turned cold I want a wardrobe full of merino fleece long sleeved tees! -

I will have to look into foldover elastic. I’ve never seen or used it.
I was thinking of buying adjustable strap stuff so it lasts longer in terms of sizing. (Btw- the dress turned out stinkin cute- I’ll post on Flickr). I used a Lisette lawn and some yellow trim. Added jump rope pockets. A little ruffle. It’s a bad picture. But so cute. We…[Read more]

I did a Popover dress using fold-over elastic in the past. It worked great. I measured the dress on my daughter and sewed the FOE into a circle and applied it folded over the armhole. In fact, I just finished up another Popover. Intended to use fold-over elastic again but couldn’t find it in my disaster of a sewing room. Literally, the minute…[Read more]
