Cooking and Baking 11 years agoI’ve never learned to love eggplant – maybe I should give it a try again.
I’m stuck on the quinoa. It’s so good, I’ve had it for lunch all last week and this week. I make a batch on Sunday night, divide it into 4 jars and top up with chicken, fish or beef. Perfect for lunch.
I use this recipe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnmjmHUUxsY (the…[Read more]

I found the fit on this one to be pretty generous. I made a lengthened size 2 and it way too short but still fit otherwise when she was 4. She’s skinny, but still. I love this pattern- hope you can make it work for your girl!

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoLoving this discussion – about heirloom techniques and technology!!! We hope to crosshatch without filler….but since we’ve yet to do it, that is yet to be determined.
@cybele27 EXCELLENT IDEA on the garden party for the preteen ladies!
@justsewit Way to include the guys AND girls! A pintuck down the side of a pair of trousers would look quite…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years ago@cybele727 …. can’t do the link or attachment either.
Maybe we should ask @FrancesSuzanne to do tips on heirloom sewing AND internet stuff. One of them is a graphic designer and can rock the web! -

I’d call it more of a blazer than a jacket, per se. You probably wouldn’t be able to layer a sweater under it, but you could wear it over a light blouse or T-shirt.

When I click either link or reply nothing happens.
I truly think the internet is part voodoo, part magic and for me, most of what I try to do is jinxed 🙂 -

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoDeb,
Maybe it is just me, but when I click on that link, I am told I don’t have access to that account. I think you posted a link that is for the author of a page, and since the blog id is a number, we can’t search for the blog….. -

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoThe hem tucks I was referring to are also called growth tucks. Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoTucks on the garden party dress. That bodice is perfect for that. Some awesome box pleats or narrow pintucks.
I think for the preteen girls it is a really flattering top because it can disguise new “growth” that they might not yet be comfortable with.

Gigi’s most worn was a pair of afterschool pants. Teal baby corduroy embroidered with hot pink roses.
Least worn/loved? Book report dress.

My least worn, but personal favorite, was Abby’s Ice Cream top: https://www.flickr.com/photos/52761227@N04/8068829007/in/album-72157631200589734/
