Cooking and Baking 11 years agoOh, eggplant. I miss it! I loved it until I suddenly became allergic to it after my son was born. It’s been two years and it still makes my whole mouth itch when I eat it (and my hands if I cook with it). I deal with the discomfort for the occasional mouthful of baba ghanoush but eggplant parmesan is out 🙁
We had steak, sweet potatoes and…[Read more]

These are so cute!
I have a sewing one 🙂 I usually finish up sewing at night and then put the new garments outside her door and one morning she woke up and found them just outside her door and said “Mommy, the monsters made me clothes!”
That one cracked me up. It has now changed from monsters making it, to mermaids, to daddy. Oh well! One day…[Read more]

We are going in September to disney world! I don’t have tons of ideas for boys. I like the sailboat pattern for Mickey and you can make tons of disney shirts with the school bus. Or you could do a gaston costume out of the parachute polo pattern. The main part in red with a yellow collar and black pants (art museum maybe) any black pants really…[Read more]

Mood is awesome BUT overwhelming. Go prepared with an idea of fabric types in mind. If you have patterns in mind, know the yardage for various widths.
Also, don’t be shocked if you see someone “famous”. When I was there last June, I saw Vera Wang. I saw this very elegant Asian woman blow in with two or three assistants discussing what she was…[Read more]

Cooking and Baking 11 years agoMmmmmm eggplant! I tried to grow it last year and failed :/ is it a fall thing? I tried growing it in the summer!
Sarvi, our farmer’s market opens this weekend and I’m sooooo excited for some local eggs! I totally agree, supermarket eggs leave a lot to be desired!

THAT’S it, Nicole! Mwwwah! (Xoxo) I needed to notch that stitching line. That was the missing puzzle piece in my head. See…. I knew I was out of practice! 😉
Thanks girlies! On my mobile too. We are on the road this week and next (Carm’s teaching a Singer Featherweight Maintenance Class in our old hometown) but will finish when I get…[Read more]

Thanks, Liesl and Nicole!
Sounds good… just so I am clear, though, I don’t stitch on the area between the dots but on the stitching line I transfer from the pattern piece (even though the illustrations in the instructions show a stitching line on the area between the dots)?
Also, what do I do about the 3rd notch that’s in the illustrations…[Read more]

How about the Art Museum trousers, with a shiny stripe down the side, and an oversized Sketchbook shirt with the stand collar option and lots of length added, then add on the bits of gold trim. In the right fabric it might read like a coat?

Cooking and Baking 11 years agoIf I had eggs like those, really fresh, I bet I’d eat loads of them. Supermarket eggs are really sad specimens. Pale yolks, shells barely there. I splurged on proper eggs from the farmer’s market today. Had to queue for them!
Moussaka sounds fab.

Oh, very good point. Habu is a bit like that. The long-suffering non-crafting friend who went with me referred to it as a ‘yarn speakeasy’ 🙂

Thanks for the kind words, @needlewoman! I’m glad you like the patterns and appreciate your support and encouragement. It’s always so nice to hear a kind word!
If it helps at all with regard tot he knits, you really don’t need any special equipment. So don’t let knits intimidate you! If you haven’t tried them yet, I think you’ll be pleasantly…[Read more]

Liesl, Todd and all the hardworking persons associated with Oliver+S; just wanted to say that I really do like the new kids’ patterns. As I don’t really have the wherewithall for knit sewing, I will be purchasing both size-sets of the Butterfly Top, and skirt. I can see lots of potential for these items, and they look comfortable for kids.
Thank…[Read more]

Cooking and Baking 11 years agoOh my! All of these recipes sound great!
One of my favorite meals to make are pouches. Super quick. Last night we layered salmon on top of asparagus (it’s asparagus season here yay), drizzled with olive oil, salt and pepper and topped the salmon with a couple sprigs of thyme and a couple slices of lemon. They are wrapped in their serving…[Read more]
