The Ice Cream does sew up well in wool.
I made two more Hopscotch dresses for my baby girl today.

That confirms it @katybellabug David Kracht is a serial follower! I wasn’t going to name names, but funny we’ve both been multifollowed by the same guy. Guess he really does like kid’s sewing! 🙂
@Nicole that’s an incredible number of views! (I thought you might be the “winner” with that dress!) It’s a truly beautiful dress, but isn’t it funny, I…[Read more] -

My linen Portfolio dress https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/5634149251/ has had a huge amount of hits.
I must post it off to its new home!

I made this very tasty salad tonight. http://www.sugarandgrace.com/2013/05/02/kale-and-brussels-sprouts-salad-w-bacon-and-pecorino/
My bunch of kale was a bit furry so the chooks got that and I pan fired some sliced zucchini as a substitute. I also steamed the Brussels sprouts briefly in the microwave and then shredded them.I had to use fresh…[Read more]

Oh, and yes, I check the Flickr stats cause I find it curious to see what appeals in an image. I’m also amused by the Flickr cognoscenti who feverishly collect images from Explore and “favourite” images with abandon. Sometimes I think it’s just cause I have the same brand of camera….
One guy has followed me multiple times. I guess that means he…[Read more] -

I have a few photos in the 4,000+ views because the image ended up on Flickr Explore. I suppose that’s down to the appeal of the image not the garment.
My most viewed photo, which like yours Sarvi gets a half dozen looks every day, is currently at 6,058 views. It is a Sailboat top modified into a belted dress. That’s definitely come about due to…[Read more] -

Oh, great tip, @vothgirl ! I bet you will see an interesting uptick in views after appearing on the blog. I’ll be curious to know what the difference is.
@with-love-heidi I wonder whether the Project Run & Play entry had something to do with it?
@justmejay I know the hunstman spider pic you mention, I can see why it has so many views!

That would be here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/she-sews-seashore-dresses.html
I really need to learn how to do this without Hugo’s help….

If it is a stretch fabric and she doesn’t mind a bit of tugging I think it would be do-able.
I would sew it, with out the facings, safely pin the shoulders closed and try it on. If it works, snip off the excess strap, if it doesn’t, finish it with the buttons and button holes.
I have a tute here if you would like a peep at the construction.

@JWo what a clever idea to use a mirror! I’ve read that for knitting Fair Isle it’s great to be able to knit both English and Continental — maybe lefties have advantages when it comes to certain kinds of knitting?

Do you ever check your stats on flickr? I check them from time to time just to look for signs of any unusual activity. There’s not usually anything too interesting but I have noticed that one dress that found its way onto Pinterest is viewed almost every day. Not a ton of views each day, at most four or five. But when I clicked on the photo today…[Read more]

That’s a pretty good amount of stretch — would you be able repurpose it into a regular Seashore if it didn’t work out as a closure-free version?

This one is designed to have a pretty slim silhouette. What age is the child and how much stretch does your fabric have? I imagine an older child could shimmy into it but it might be a bit of a struggle. When you say stretch, are you thinking of a woven with some stretch? Or a knit? Could you use snaps (the kind you sew in) or velcro to make a…[Read more]
