Oh no nothing wrong there just general busyness. We had a friend come and help Murray with a mill (and do some sheep) so I had this as a delay, not to mention the other runnings of the day. I don’t usually sew in the dining room so Chloë has free reign to the power cables. I actually reduced the sewing time yesterday due to the safety issue – my…[Read more]

I am trying not to watch the news right now as I see images of something happening in Paris again.

My thoughts are at present with those in the south west of my state battling a huge a very fast moving bushfire. I am so sad for the town of Yarloop. 95 homes gone – only one house left standing in the whole town. I am thinking of my friends who…[Read more]

+/- on setting in sleeves are well it can be fiddly to get the easing right in the round. Also to get the sleeve seam and the side seams to match up perfect can be fiddly. I just find it easier to do the sleeve and side seam in one on little garments. It’s faster. But the other way is I guess the proper way.

Hope that made sense (I had a broken…[Read more]

  • Can you use those buckle closures that are sewn onto the outside?
Or maybe make tabs with your own fabric and have snaps – bit like view B….

Request for miscellaneous advice, please! I’m sewing a School Days rain jacket and made a bad error — I stitched the front placket to the coat and forgot to put in the loops for the toggles. Should I forgo the toggles and just use velcro alone?

Also, I am a bit nervous about stitching Velcro only to the lining and not all the way through the…[Read more]

    Thanks Enbee for your input.
I just looked up your model serger and it seems to have all the features I use in my price range.
Have you tried using the rolled hem feature on your machine? I do rolled hems quite a bit and if it’s as automatic as the description, then that’s a bonus.

It looks like I will need to replace my Bernette FunLock serger. It was damaged recently and since it’s 20 years old (or older) perhaps it’s time to replace it.

The sergers in my price bracket that I’ve been looking at are: Juki MO0664D, Brother 1034D & 1134D, and Janome 8002D

Threading a serger is not an issue for me and I have a Janome…[Read more]

Yes, the reviews all say it is fabulous to wear and doesn’t come undone. I showed my sister the pattern and she got very excited about the cup sizing it caters for (she has been very blessed in the bust department). Of course I have to make mine first before really convincing her😜.
