I have had the cording fail on several coats. I replaced cording on one coat twice. Finally, I used leather toggle patches on one coat and those have been durable. I have also made cording out of cotton lining fabric and those have worked, too.

I had good luck using cording made (by me) out of quilting cotton as well!

I have been holding on to this pattern for almost 2.5 years and figured this was the year I was going to make my little boy a coat and put this intimidation behind me.

Thanks for the tips everyone posted here. It was helpful.

    Wish. Me. Luck!

I used magnetic sew in snaps when I made mine. I put them on the tabs, but when I make the next one, I plan to omit the tabs. I might just have it button.

I’m still planning. I bought wool/poly blend coating since Fabric.com has a lot on sale.

What about the sizing on this coat pattern? The finished coat measurements given are considerably bigger than the measurements given to use for choosing a size. Help please.

Answered in the other thread you’d posted in.
Glad you found this one though, as the tips re cords are worth noting.
