Sailor Collar Question

    I’m tackling the sailor dress featured in the book and am having trouble figuring out how to combine the sailor collar, internal facing and the keyhole closure.

    The instructions in the book for the internal facing and the sailor collar use the button placket, and not internal facing.

    Anyone know how to put the facing and the keyhole closure together with the sailor collar?

    If you omit the placket allowances and cut your back pattern piece on the fold, then you can create any shape of slit or keyhole opening you like at the centre back and facing as shown in that blog post.
    Just be aware that you need to be A line or similar with the skirt so that you don’t need to be able to open the waist at all.

    Oh yes, thanks Shelley! Got it — it’s just like a skirt placket.
