Gathers are not enough?

    I gathered as much as I could, but the front of the dress will not fit the yoke…it’s about 2 inches to big on each side. I double-checked that the notches on the yokes matched up, but can’t figure out why the front of the dress is too wide. Anyone else run into this? For a fix, I am wondering if extending the gathering stitches a couple of inches on either side of the notches will help to match these two pieces up. Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Hi Jennifer

    I usually start and end my gathering stitches from the outside of each notch – maybe by about 1/2″….. So yes, just extending your gathering stitches should fix it!

    I noticed that I needed to pull the gathers very tight, much tighter than I would for normal gathering.
