Founded in 2010 as a sewing school, Dot to Dot Studio has grown into a female-led, family-run business based in a village in the English countryside. We began by offering sewing classes to our local community and, over the past 15 years, have gradually expanded our offering. Alongside our workshops, we now run a thoughtfully curated fabric shop, supporting dressmakers and makers both locally and further afield.

Let’s see what recommendations the folks from Dot to Dot Studio have to make and which patterns they paired those fabrics with.

For the Enmore Halter Dress + Top we chose Cerulean Blue Leopard Jacquard  for it’s beautiful drape, the perfect lightweight fabric for summer makes in a striking colour with ever popular animal print pattern. This fabric is highly crease resistant, so will look smart straight out of your suitcase this summer!

Another wonderful option would be the Scarlet Flowers in Viscose Satin, which is slinky, soft on the skin, and cool to wear in the summer months. The large-scale red florals are eye-catching, with warm undertones, it has a vintage feel of old-money glamour.

For the Gelato Blouse + Dress, we chose Cotton Lawn in Jaipur for it’s bright and beautiful colors, perfect to encourage a bit of sunshine back into the day! This lightweight fabric frills and folds beautifully. The best thing about this fabric, the print goes all the way through so it will work perfectly for the ruffles of the blouse.

Another great option would be Fableism Queen of Hearts – Riviera Gingham in a colorway that will transition perfectly from winter to spring. This light, drapey cotton sits softly against the skin. The square of the gingham echoes beautiful in the boxy cut of the blouse.
