let’s make a list!

Friends,

The news about Joann Stores is a big blow to the U.S. craft community. For many of us, their stores are the only local resource for fabric, trim, and other creative projects.

For that reason, I thought it would be helpful to compile a list of your favorite shops, especially those online, for finding great fabric and trims. So I’m asking for your help:

  • Email me at fabricsource@lieslandco.com with your favorite shops.
  • Indicate if they are online or local and, if local, where they are located.
  • Tell us what type of fabrics they carry. (For example: quilting fabrics, apparel fabrics, home decorating fabrics, trims, or a combination.)
  • If you know they offer swatches, please include that information as well! For many apparel fabrics, it’s so helpful to see and touch the fabrics before you buy them.

We’ll publish the list on the blog and on our newsletter, so sign up to have blog posts and newsletters mailed to you so you receive the complete list! https://oliverands.com/signup/

We’ll also try to feature one terrific shop and some of their fabrics every week, so if you find a particular fabric you love, tell us about it so we can share it!

And please spread the word! Let’s support our favorite fabric stores to keep the sewing world strong and healthy.

Thanks so much for doing this Liesl! I live in the Back of Beyond, and presently have 3 Joannes, each about an hour away. Other than a handful of small quilting shops, I live in a fabric desert. I do have a stash, so I’m really going to miss notions. (Thank God for Wawak! So….add Wawak…) I’m also going to miss those $1.99 patterns, lol.

Hello Fabric store in Norwalk, ct , Banksville fabrics, sells upholstery as well as garment fabric. They also sell thread and notions. They are not online. I believe they have a swatch system at least they used to through I never used it.

Stitch Sew Shop in Alexandria, VA. Great small well curated fabric, notion and patterns. They specialized in garment fabrics. Also they offer sewing lessons and a makers space. One of my happy places. Fiber Space, a lovely yarn shop, is just around the corner. Beautiful yarns, needles and notions.
