shelley’s jacket using leftover fabric

The famous Shelley is back today with yet another terrific sewing project, this time using leftovers from her last project, the barnyard Chaval Coat.

Here is what she had to say about this one, a toddler jacket.

I had leftover quilted lining from my Chaval Coat, so I used the School Days Jacket pattern, using the quilted under-vest with sleeves. I added a little bit of width at the center- front so it could overlap with snaps.

Then, because toddlers have got to have pockets, I put the gorgeous gathered pockets from the Puppet Show Shorts on the front.

I definitely don’t recommend anyone uses pleather bias binding as it’s a beast to sew, but otherwise a super cute, quick and easy jacket from leftovers!

Thank you, Shelley! If this reminds you of the jacket from our Lullabye Layette baby set, it reminds me of it too, but for bigger kids, obviously. What a great idea, and very well executed!

So cute! And I love the idea of changing the lining pattern to make a jacket. Adorable pockets too!
