OK, tell us! What’s the one item of clothing you own and love and/or wear the most? It doesn’t have to be something you made, just the thing you couldn’t live without.
For me, I really, really love my button-down shirts. They’ve become my uniform, for all intents and purposes. In fact, I’m going to make a few more Classic Shirts because I wear them so much. And you know what I love about that? Button-down shirts were my Grandma’s standby as well.
What about you? Do you have a favorite shirt, a well-worn pair of blue jeans, or a really comfortable dress that you love? What do you turn to most in your closet?
I agree with the everyday shirts! I’ve made 4 long sleeved ones, 2 sleeveless and I have a short-sleeved one in the queue. They go so well with the denim extra sharp pencil skirt I made!
Ooh, fun prompt! I really love my black and white horizontally striped ponte knit skirt, which I did make. It is secret pajamas comfy, it looks great with a blazer for work or a t-shirt on the weekend. It is unfortunately wearing out, and I need to find fabric to make another one!
Jeans with t-shirts and button down shirts are my faves.
I love shirts too but am new to sewing so I am still mastering my collar making skills . I love the orange tunic in the background too , is it available as a pattern? If so I will snap it up , it’s stunning!

my favorite piece is a heavyweight black linen everyday skirt I made! I made it to be worn high waisted and it is a playful short length. It goes with almost everything in my closet! In both cold and warm weather.
I’ve added two linen tops and two linen dresses to my wardrobe since last summer and I find myself wearing those a lot. I love to wear clothes made of woven fabrics particularly cotton and now also linen.
I made a pair of white linen wide legged pants(patch pockets and elastic waistband) that I have worn to death! I have 4 shorts from the same pattern as well, that are summer staples. I also love my Maritime tee in wide blue and white stripes.
I often go directly from work to evening meetings or events. I have purchased black pants that I frequently wear because they are so comfortable and transition easily. Likewise, I have some dressy long-sleeve solid tees with scoop necklines that I can throw on a scarf or statement necklace and look very pulled together while being comfortable and appropriate for anything.
I love putting on my waterfall jacket at all times on my fitted gowns. Its lovely and I cant do without it.
I have made 8 pairs of butterick 4004. This is an old Donna Ricco pattern. I have worn out 2 linen pairs. I have 3 new linen pairs for summer all in cropped length. I have another 3 pairs in flannel as Pjs. I love these pants. They sit at my waist. They are elastic. They have pockets. And most of all they fit. Gosh I wish I could have these in a trouser style. I’d live in them.
My portfolio dress is my most worn item that I have made myself. I don’t know if it’s the cut or the pockets that I love the most but the moment I put it on I instantly feel happy
