    Love the snow!

Thank you too to all the people who have posted on the forum and in the flickr group. What I see and read here, both in response to my questions and to other peoples enquiries keeps me motivated and inspired.

    Happy Christmas!

Thank you Liesl, Todd, and S for sharing your passion w/ all of us. Have a wonderful holiday break!

Since it’s likely, I will only have a wet Christmas, it’s nice to see snow on the front page of the Oliver + S website. 🙂

I’m up to the lining handstitching on the jacket. Then locating buttons and its done!

I think I might miss out on the puppet show outfit for now. Instead I will work to get something done down the track. Time is of the essence and baby has too many clothes for now. That’s what happens when you keep baby clothes.

I have a few very very special…[Read more]

One Christmas Ice Cream finished, not the smoothest of projects but it is done and the wee miss is pleased.

  • I finished the dress! It looks amazing! I have also finished my basic Christmas sewing. Everyone I wanted to make something for has something 🙂 Although if I have time I’ll probably make 2 more tshirts and a pair of leggings but if I don’t get to it that’s fine 🙂

It could be a once off fluke situation Nicole. My hubby is hoping this one will “take after him” – we will have to attend a wedding when she is ten months old so she can run to the keg if this is the case then.

Trixie sounds like she is gaining in strength which is a good thing but (with fingers crossed), it doesn’t mean she will be running by…[Read more]

  • @justsewit, in regard to pockets with a ‘V’, I don’t 🙂
    But thank you!

  • Nicole I literally don’t know how you do it! But I am glad the second lot of pockets turned out for you.

Oh yes coffee can be a lifesaver! At the moment the pets are training me not to sleep – four times last night!
I generally sleep well and get to sleep fairly fast but living with a husband who likes noise all the time, it can be draining when you wake in the middle of the night to an infomercial or the big bang theory on repeat! I dont feel rested…[Read more]

I often leave the darts out of the front of my skirts and trousers as I have a round tummy.

  • I now acknowledge that sewing an Ice Cream dress in a lurex/muslin fabric, as sheer as cobwebs, was possibly not the best idea on a disturbed nights sleep.
I will also be content without the ‘V’ on the pockets and neckline and acknowledge that pockets #2 (that replaced the pockets #1 my machine ate) are still very sweet and Tildy will not notice.
    Sigh….

I think the reason this has been really hard on me is that I, myself, am not a very good sleeper either (guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree). I wake up at the slightest sound and then remain awake for an hour or more before falling back asleep. There are nights where between P getting up, and my own waking, I may only get 3 hours of…[Read more]

Well I decided to remove the front darts as she has a slightly protruding abdomen that it looked like the dress was getting caught up on so to speak. This changed the bust area and it is no longer baggy but now is nice. The hip area has the room it needs and the back is no longer looking so baggy. I am taking a smidgen out of the center back and…[Read more]

Funny, I think of myself as a great sleeper, even though I wake several times a night, every night (and think this is why I remember so many dreams). I think what I’m doing that makes me think I’m a good sleeper is that I stay very relaxed and drowsy. Alcohol knocks me out but it’s awful, unrefreshing sleep. Interesting what kind of sleep feels…[Read more]

  • Thanks Ladies!
I will have a play after Christmas.
I pretty much live in linen tunics but I don’t like ‘tent-like’ tops. Too dangerous cooking if nothing else.
I liked the way it gave fullness from the bust down.

  • I think the challenge lies in getting the finished dart to have the same dimensions/fit as the original.
You’d need to cut and spread the pattern before cutting out the fabric in order to add the seam allowance. That way once you’ve sewn the gathered dart it hopefully ends up the original shape.
Take pictures of what you do, I’ll be curious to see it!
