  • Hello all –

I am sewing a size 6, using a sweatshirt fleece (fuzzy on one side, smooth on the other) and discovered while hemming the first leg that a 1/2″ channel was just barely too narrow for my 1/2″ non-roll elastic. The stuff is pretty stiff, and the fabric is pretty thick – maybe a softer elastic may have worked better, but that’s what I…[Read more]

Joann’s sells stuff by the bolt. I don’t know about chambray. But I bet if you went to a store either JoAnns or even a local place and tell them you wanted to buy a bolt of chambray, they’d order it for you. At Joann’s if there is a weight you like that they already have, you could ask them to order a bolt of that particular one for you.

Thank you all for your support. Your kindness is always so touching. What if I told you that today the doctor called my mother and she needs bypass surgery, and btw, she has an auto immune disorder where she doesn’t quite clot?

If anyone needs me I will be on the couch after taking a valium. J/k about the valium.

    Anyway, someone talk some…[Read more]

Thank you for the pattern tips! That is two new pattern companies you’ve introduced me to, which for someone with more ideas and enthusiasm than time is a very dangerous thing! I’ll have to tell my husband you made me buy something…

I’ve just about finished a vintage pj top for Lady E to take on holiday with her. I’ve had to free style some…[Read more]

Every time I try a new pattern, I make it in blue chambray. I’m getting kind of tired of going out to buy more blue chambray, and I’m hoping that one of you wise ladies will know where I can order an entire bolt.

    Thanks!

  • My niece is about to spend 2 weeks in plaster casts up to her knees (including her feet) on both legs! I thought it would be MUCH easier to get pants on and off if the sides opened up.
I was planning a significant hack of probably the field trips or sandbox and then the parachute pants are released with a perfect stripe down the side 🙂 Only…[Read more]

  • I finally got back to sewing tonight. I feel I haven’t sewn much in the last month or so. But tonight I cut out and pinned my first pair of parachute pants. Although I’m making them so that the stripe closes with velcro so I’ll see how they go.

Sarvi I think Donna may mean the inner most corners, aka the seam allowances.

Donna, i have just been going through the instructions (one handed I’m afraid as I have a baby with a cold that insists on being held). Gathering the info of what your dilemma is and comparing the photos (Thanks so much Brittney for helping upload these) to the pictures…[Read more]
