Last night I finished the 2+2 top. Today I hope to keep going on the music class shirt but am comsidering changing the sleeve to short ones considering our very out of character spring like weather when it is supposed to be cold and raining!

Carefully pinned the yokes on the legs of a pair of after school pants and stitched them only to realize I had sewn right to wrong rather than right to right. Gavk!

Even though they print from rolls, many 36″-wide printers are only able to print pieces up to a certain maximum length. I forget the exact length now (I always need to look it up when we have a long pattern), but it’s around 80-90 inches or so. If a pattern ends up being longer than this, we have to split it onto two sheets so it comes in under…[Read more]

Some of my patterns have been printed in two sheets, not sure about the reasoning- mostly the larger size ranges or adult patterns. I second looking for a local print shop, mine knew exactly what I needed and was better priced than the office supply chains.

It’s my understanding that 36″ wide paper comes on a roll. Should be able to print to whatever length you want.
Search for a print shop that will do blue prints. They’re not hard to find.

I usually buy the digital patterns and print them at home but would like to have them printed as on the last page of patterns. Has anyone done this and if so where? My local office supply store has a blueprint printer capable of 36″ wide but they couldn’t figure out how to print it to size and said it was too long for 1 sheet.

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoHello everyone 🙂
After perusing Pinterest boards for Cappuccino and seeing some tops with beautiful big V -necks in stunning fabrics I am wondering if there is a way to make the neck a deeper and wider “V” ? I have seen a few tunic tops with stunning ribbon-like v-necks just like the Cappuccino and wonder if it can be done.
Has anyone…[Read more]

I’ve discovered Pattern Review and love it. The reviews are super helpful.
They have Butterick on sale through midnight tonight (well, I think it’s midnight Eastern U.S.).
I just re-bought the Lisette Butterick patterns….bought the wrong size at the Jo-Ann’s sale a couple of months ago:-(. Figured that out just the other week.

They are low but it is more pronounced on the smaller sizes. It is easy to lay the pattern pieces over each other and omit the pockets of you wanted to.
The pattern is great, though! Enjoy!

Grrr….put buttonholes on the wrong side of an art museum vest! AFTER already making a second set of fronts because I wasn’t happy with my welts the first time around!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I ended up spending some time looking at ones online and just drawing my own to get the specs right. (I was starting to feel like Goldilocks trying to find a pattern!)
It isn’t perfect, but good enough for a five year old boy in constant motion! And, he liked it and sat still for me to learn to tie it!
