cybele727 started the topic To lengthen or shorten sleeve for 3/4 in the forum oliver + s: jump rope 10 years ago
Hello:
I am making the jumprope. I want to do the tab sleeve, but I want it in a 3/4 option. We simply do not do long sleeves. She’d rather freeze and 3/4 is the longest I can get without a sensory issue.
Anyway, the pattern for the long sleeve narrows as it goes down until a certain point and then about 3 inches before it ends it stops…[Read more]

Given I’m adding another 2″ FBA to the 4″ FBA I’d already done . . . they’ll only be photos of the suit 🙂

Hehe! Sewing snobbery rules! Nuthin’ to be ashamed of there! I do the same and apply Oliver and s sewing principals with other patterns now. Some instructions are very vague out there.
I am steadily trundling my way through the two extra pair of jeans – Jalie 2908 stretch jeans size “v” (9) and (shock horror!) Thread theory Jedediah pants in size…[Read more]

Masha, I feel like I play too, and yet… I just made a pinafore/jumper for my daughter. I think it will be a first day of dress. A beautiful cotton and steel lawn. It was not an Oliver and S pattern and boy was I, ahem, P!$$ed. I was aghast at the instructions and things like unfinished facings, and no directions to tack facings down. The…[Read more]

You know that is a great question. I certainly understand why she fussy cut across the vertical line to make sure she cut straight, and it would have been if it was printed that way.
I appreciated it actually and still do, since it wasn’t her fault. Last year, I purchased some 1/2 yard cuts of Liberty from SohoPurl when in NYC. The young woman…[Read more]

@cybele727 – I’m curious – are you happy with the way the fabric shop cut it? Because I cut large scale prints that way as well….so I’m wondering if that was a good thing to you or a bad thing…

If the fabric is defective, you could return it. I think Cotton + Steel would stand behind their fabric.

Interfacing usually works well for me when it comes to hemming. You might need to adjust the tension on your machine for the double needle, too. I usually have to crank up the upper tension by quite a bit to balance things out. Good luck!

Double beh – I’ve gotten some advice on this thread already about reducing the stretching! Will try the interfacing on the sleeve hems. Thanks!
