I get a snow day! Once about every 10 years it snows to sea level in Tasmania. And today’s that day 🙂 Snow at my house! This is the first one I’ve experienced since I’ve been here so it’s pretty and cool 🙂
Beautiful to look at, school closed I get a sew day 🙂 -

I would really like a long sleeved dress that doesn’t feel too practical! I know there are several three quarter length sleeve dress patterns, and I could lengthen them, but I would really enjoy another long sleeved dress. Ideally something more ‘party-like’, like the garden party or fairy tale. I guess i’m thinking that sleeves will be the order…[Read more]

A tulle circle skirt is a genius idea as that gets around having to seam the tulle.
However, the Fairy Tale dress has a zipper that crosses the waist seam which would complicate things if you wanted the tulle on the outside. Maybe I’m being unambitious but I think an invisible zipper and layers of tulle will not go nicely together.
You might need…[Read more] -

I’m enjoying the free motion embroidery I’m doing on my denim quilt. Lots of words and a few pictures. Yes, it’s very time consuming but also encouraging me to spend lots of time praying for my friends, who will be the recipient.

Maggie, so sorry about your break-in. Even though you didn’t lose anything terribly sentimental an event like that can leave you quite unsettled. My husband and I experienced a similar event (although all the thieves took was our television) 3 months before our first baby was born – we came home from work to find our front door kicked in. I felt…[Read more]

I am working on an Arielle skirt (Tilly and the Buttons) for my sister using some yellow patterned Lisette twill from a few seasons ago. She had a birthday last month and because of all the “excitement” in our lives I didn’t give it much thought. I basted the skirt together and she came over yesterday to try it on. It was kind of fun having her…[Read more]

I would be tempted to make the tutu and then the fairy tale with a very short skirt as the peplum (ruffle on the bottom of the skirt).
Here’s a tutorial for making a tulle circle skirt.http://www.cottonandcurls.com/2014/01/very-simple-tulle-skirt-tutorial/
I would probably line the skirt as well to prevent any scratchyness or see throughness.

I have just about finished a blue linen every day skirt. I used the elastic for something else and only have enough for one row, so just need to get a bit more to finish the second row. I’m not entirely convinced it’s ‘me’, I need some time to myself in front of a mirror to try styling it etc.
Has anyone come across a fitted LINED pencil skirt…[Read more]
