My idea just isn’t going to get done! Inspired by the kind of Alexa Chung androgyny and a blouse I’ve seen pics of her in, I was going to go for a music class blouse with peter pan collar in white with a black velvet ribbon tie at the neck paired with a black and white herringbone bone pattern pair of art museum trousers. Will have to find time…[Read more]

I’ve just put the photos up of my first black and white creation – a Playdate dress. Why, oh why did I take so long to sew this dress pattern. It’s such a great shape and style.
I’ve got one more outfit left to sew, so I’m working to the North American version of the 5th of October, as in my time zone that is eerily close…

I’ve cut out and have sewn the darts on the art museum Vest. I had just enough to cut it out of the remaining pinstripe fabric but I’ll need to do a contrast lining.

Well, I finished. I just need good pics. I haven’t found a good picture spot in my house for good light!

Fantastic!
And I love your Rhymes with Shawl sweater! (I”m still in a bit of denial about DD’s….it got ruined at school and I need to rip out my yarn and snip out the pieces where the marker didn’t come out 🙁 )

Sorry Rebecca, I didn’t know what a camp collar was. Now I’ve learned something new 🙂

@rebecca if you can follow diagrams and don’t have a very tall/big bloke then this book of shirt patterns would be the bomb!
There’s every collar/cuff/style combination imaginable. -

@mlinton I remember an exquisite School Photo dress in the Flickr stream that was a wool with red pocket lining. It showed when viewed from the side and slightly open but man wax it a nice feature. Try searching the Flickr stream fro school photo dresses.
I think a thinner pocket facing is a good idea I you’re working with a thick(ish) fabric. -

Any special techniques I should know about making buttonholes for uniquely shaped buttons? I am planning to make bedtime pjs for this fall with these moon shaped pearly type buttons.

Haha, that’s so cute! Todd & Co, or the Big 4 version, Tedette…

I would really like to see some men’s patterns…specifically a basic but classic button-up. Any plans to expand into patterns for the “Todd” in our lives? hehe

I made a hopscotch and my daughter wore it to school. She was sad that no one told her it was pretty. I said not everyone can be a winner. Lol.
