I&#8217;ve got one cut out and ready to sew for the first time.<br />
You&#8217;re right that the instructions differ. The cut line drawn on the pattern is certainly at the 1&amp;1/4&#8243; distance from the fabric edge.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s what my approach would be: start with the building block dress: do princess seams and dropped waist adjustments. At the dropped waist you can add the ruffles and pockets using the Seashore pattern as a guide.<br />

<p>I love it, although sewing modal is a slippery business.</p>

I have one similar but it is only in inches not metric also. They are very handy little gadgets but sometimes you need to revert back and &#8220;translate&#8221; and with mine it is sligtly tricky without the use of a calculator (and even that is a mindbender).</p>

There is always so much to learn, and I did not realize that the interfacing should not really change the hand of the fabric. I used a much lighter interfacing (the 906 F I mentioned is a &#8220;shear weight&#8221;) than my first tunic, but it is definitely still too stiff.
