I am a frog-er when things don’t go right in knitting. Nice yarn is expensive and I am cheap! It is true, though, that after I frog a project I tend not to want to pick the needles back up for awhile. I always end up going back to it, though. There is something wonderful about knitting, curled up in a chair, with a cup of tea or coffee at your…[Read more]

How about going back to knitting some basic, easy stuff that you can complete in the blink of an eye, using gorgeous colour yarn, from a good manufacturer? Nothing too big, say child’s size to start so you get quick, satisfying results- get your enjoyment from using beautiful yarn instead of complex stitch or garment patterns. Pick something not…[Read more]

Firstly, pics. Or it didnthappen. I love me some Tosh yarn. I practicaly knit with it exclusively.

I tend to be this way with all ofmy crafts—I am obsessed with it until I am burned out. Then it has to go away for awhile while I become obsessed with something else, and somethIng else. Rinse and repeat. Thisbis how I keep the love…[Read more]

As an example of everything that’s wrong with knitting: I started a shawl project at the beginning of the soccer season (I can’t lug my sewing machine to the field, after all) and it was close to finished, so I motivated myself to finish it off. Lovely pink Tosh yarn, pretty pattern with lots of excellent reviews on ravely, not too hard, not too…[Read more]

A month’s worth of weekends (including some days of 40C in Adelaide) has seen me finish 3 quilt tops. The must do content were a tablecloth/lap quilt, and a single bed quilt for my aunt/godmother who turn 88 in May. I’ve made many quilts during the last 10-15 years, but haven’t worked on any for a year. So I’m very pleased to have these projects…[Read more]

Top of the Lake- I saw that somewhere- is it Netflix? I’ll have a look at that. Thanks, Sarvi.

Don’t be ashamed! That show has some really good writing. It never really ‘grabbed’ me but I could appreciate the workmanship that went into. I like pretty much everything on your list, so I’ll have to check out the few I don’t watch already. Have you seen Top of the Lake? I don’t think I could knit through it, it’s too wrenching, but if you can…[Read more]

Oh a real mixture! Series like Homeland, Broadchurch, Great British Bake Off, old films that no one else in my house wants to watch(!). Also if watching with my husband, things like Mad Men, which we love. Those clothes!!! I love Peggy and Joan is so curvaceous I can’t take my eyes off her! If I’m knitting something complex, I watch lighthearted…[Read more]

    I found this interesting thread:

What’s your favorite movie to knit to?

after searching for good movies or shows to watch while knitting. My Netflix queue is split into more serious films to which I’d like to give my full attention, and stuff I think might be good for my daughter but that won’t be in the…[Read more]
