How do you summarize a week packed full of creative adventures and new friends? I honestly didn’t know what to expect from our first Madrid Through a Creative Lens tour, and I was a little nervous because I really, really wanted everyone to love it. It’s easy to feel vulnerable when you organize something like this, and in this case it was especially personal: showing some of my favorite places and things that inspire me, getting to know each other over meals and lots of time spent together, and creating memories through our shared adventures.
And we had a terrific time! In fact, for me the most wonderful part of the week was seeing how everyone meshed together and formed new friendships, how each person found inspiration in what we did and in being together. The real thrill was hearing how each person went home afterwards with new experiences and friends and inspiration and ideas. And lots of great memories. That was the point of the tour. We’re still talking about it in our tour discussion group, which makes me feel really good to know that the memories are continuing to last long after everyone went home.
Social media got pushed to the side as we all enjoyed being in the present, but of course I still have lots of photos to share, many of them courtesy of Kari, who kept us all together and headed in the right direction. I felt so lucky that she came with us, kept us all in order, and told us where we were going next, and she still remembered to take photos!
So I’ll leave you with a bunch of photos and not a lot of explanation. It was such a full and exciting week, I don’t think I can adequately describe it.
And the great news is that we’re doing it again this fall, November 8-15, so if you were thinking about joining us and missed the first tour, another chance is coming. I’ve spent some time after the tour reworking the itinerary a bit, adding and moving things to make the week even better the second time around, and I’ll be back next week with details. So stay tuned!
A huge thank you to everyone who came on this tour. It was such a pleasure to meet them, get to know them, and share these experiences together. I’m delighted I get to do it again, and I hope you’ll think about joining us.
