I always love to introduce our new patterns each season. It’s difficult to keep them a secret all the months that I’m working on them, especially when I’m so excited about them and just want to share them with you. And this season is no exception. We have just two patterns, but they’re two patterns I’m especially proud of and excited about, and I hope you’re going to absolutely love them, too, because they feel really special to me. I hope they’re going to be some of your favorites, because they are definitely some of my favorites!
I’ll start by introducing you to the Chacarita Wrap Dress. This isn’t your typical wrap dress. At first glance it doesn’t look like a wrap dress at all, and that’s because it actually wraps at the back!
Wrapping at the back changes the look of this style completely and makes the dress much easier to wear than the usual front-wrap dress. And this is such an easy style to sew and to wear. Let’s talk about the details first.
I’ve given it a slightly blouse-y look with pleats so it’s a little looser, which also means it’s more forgiving and more relaxed than many wrap dresses. It also has that cute tie at the front, which is a little playful and very adjustable for days when you need a little size flexibility.
I love the V neck at the back, and the gentle V notch at the front. And of course we included pockets.
You can choose to sew this with the cut-on short sleeves or you can add the three-quarter sleeves for View B.
This is truly one of the styles you can throw on and go. It looks polished and complete on its own.
You can also accessorize and style this dress for a variety of other looks, and I’ll show you that soon. It’s also versatile for all seasons. The black floral version, below, was so fun to wear all winter with tights and boots and a big cardigan on top. This summer wear it with strappy sandals, or add a jacket or cardigan for cooler weather. It’s just so fast to get dressed with this style!
The Chacarita Wrap Dress works great with solids and prints, so I made a few extra samples to show you.
I can’t wait to see what fabrics you choose, and how you make this style your own! This style is going to be my daily go-to this summer, I can already tell you. I hope it will be yours, too!
You can pick up your own copy of the Chacarita Wrap Dress in paper or digital format. As always, we hope you’ll tag us #lieslandco and #chacaritawrapdress so we can see what you make with it and how you wear it. I’ll be back with more ideas and examples to show you, including how our fabulous testers sewed this one, so stay tuned!
