weekend links, S edition

Hello friends!

Gobble gobble.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s S here with weekend links today!

A few weeks ago I asked my mom if I could do the weekend links. I wanted to because I really like to write. My friend and I have our own blog/newspaper. (You can see it here! Haha. Self promotion….) We try to write every weekend.

We have also found a really cool app called Wattpad that lets you write stories. All of my friends and I use that, and we write stories during classes when our teachers don’t come.

The cool thing about our school is that instead of textbooks, we use tablets! They are really cool because they somehow found out how to install software so that we can only have specific apps during school hours and when we get home then our tablet has any apps we want it to have!

I recommend Wattpad if you like to write, and (once again self promotion) if you get it make sure to follow me! I’m @tsiagibson.

I hope you like my weekend links!

Pinterest Picks

A few days ago we went to an art exhibition by a friend of ours and he told us about some really cool markers he uses. They’re called Posca and they have paint in them. I’m looking forward to using them because you can layer one color over another. I want to try to draw something like these. (But not on the walls since my mom won’t let me.)

My mom and I have a Pinterest board called Animals for S and these are some of my favorites. I really like this artist, Dominique Le Bagousse.

Also, I like to make arts and crafts on the weekends with my friends. I found these cute ideas to try, and I thought you might like them also.

And lastly, for Thanksgiving we need something to do with autumn leaves right? They are so pretty! Here is a funny GIF of two trees playing catch.

Weekend Reading (and Watching)

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving weekend! In the comments tell us what you are thankful for! I’m thankful for friends, family, all the usual stuff and something strange might be… the Metro! So that I can get to school easily. They keep it so clean here!

Thanks for reading!

Along the lines of Boaty McBoatface, Oldham Council in the north of England has been naming its gritters. There’s Snowbee One Kenobee, Basil Salty, and more!

Tsia, it is so nice to meet you via your blog, which I️ very much enjoyed. I️ have been an admiring fan of your Mom’s work, (and Dad, since I️ think he does quite a lot as well!) and sewn with the patterns for years. I️ am the Mom of 5 awesome kids, one of whom works in the art field in NYC as a paintings conservator. I️ remember when she was around your age, I️ was amazed at her grasp of the world around her for someone so young. I️ can imagine your parents’ delight in seeing you develop your own talents and interests, and living in Europe will be great for that!
I️ really liked learning of those special paints you mentioned. Very cool.
I️ am thankful for my family, and that our baby grandson is recovering from a very serious illness he had this past week. I️ hope to see you on the blog again soon!

    1. I hope he gets better soon.
      Happy thanksgiving!

    Dear S,

Thank you for writing this post! My 10-year-old daughter just happened to be in the room while I was reading, so we got to look at all the links together. We especially liked the photography of dogs, and people dressed like art 🙂

    1. I’m happy you liked them! Hope you had a good thanksgiving!

Thank you for a lovely, funny post, Tsia – and happy thanksgiving from Australia! I’ll be sharing your post with my 8 year old daughter – she will love the funny animal pictures. And now I finally know what the ‘S’ in ‘Oliver and S’ stands for…

Thanks again, and good luck with your blogging,
    Michelle

    1. I hope she likes the pictures of animals for s.

Dear Tsia: `1st, I love your name. 2nd, this was a MOST enjoyable blog!!! Your writing is delightful. I read some of your and your friend, Talia’s stories on your newspaper and loved them. And I have a 10 yr old granddaughter who loves all animals. May I show her your Pinterest S and animals.??? She is lucky tho having two rats, a cat and a dog in her family too. But the family just had to say goodbye to their beloved St. Bernard, Bella, recently and that has been hard. Thank you for turning us onto Wattpad. I intend to show this to her also, tho she enjoys reading more than writing. But I enjoy her writing too!! Again, hope to read more of your posts….very creative.

    1. I’m glad you like it. Thank you very much.
Of course, show her animals for s, I hope she enjoys it.
I am very sorry about Bella, I know what it’s like having to say goodbye to a pet, I lost my cat a few years ago.
I hope she gets Wattpad, just tell me her username and I’ll make sure to follow her.
      Happy Thanksgiving!

I grew up in Italy. My school friends and I used uniposca markers to doodle in each other’s diaries. They are great fun. Thank you for reminding me of them.

I am grateful for the time we spend together as a family. I am also grateful for my thoughtful and caring friends. It’s so lovely to keep in touch and hear from friends and family especially when you live in different countries.

    Keep writing!

    1. Posca markers really are fantastic , aren’t they?! They draw on everything!
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Thanks for sharing the idea about the Posca markers! They will be the perfect gift for my 16 year old grandson who is an amazing artist. Keep writing and creating! And enjoy all your Spanish adventures. Best wishes!

    1. I hope he likes them! They come in so many shapes and sizes. Thanks!

So good to hear from you, Tsia. My favourites from your post were the pictures of the Golden Retrievers in sunglasses, and the laugh out loud GIF of the trees playing catch. Thank you very much, lovely girl. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
