summer vacation

Hello friends!

This is just a quick note to let you know that things are going to be more quiet than usual here on the blog for the rest of August.

We’re currently in New York, packing up the studio and our apartment so that we can move to Madrid for at least a few more years. As I’m sure you know, moving is a big job. It doesn’t help when you’ve lived in the same place for over 20 years. And on top of that, we’re taking everything overseas. So the challenges abound. There will be lots of sorting, discarding, packing, packaging, and wrapping to be done. I don’t know what to do with a lot of the things we have, like all the display dress forms we use for Quilt Market, our trade show booth, and our U.S. electrical appliances.  (Our wonderful vacuum! The ice cream maker!) Ugh. I’m overwhelmed just thinking about it. We’ve always kept our belongings pared down since we’ve lived in a tiny apartment, but when you have a business too things just add up, I’m afraid.

Anyway, we’ll be occupied with this little project for the next couple of weeks, and we also want to make the most of our stay in New York while we’re here. Lots of friends to see, museums to visit, etc.

In the meantime, stay in touch! We’ve finally started a Liesl + Co. Friends Facebook group that we’d love for you to join. And if you haven’t already, the Oliver + S Friends Facebook group has grown by leaps and bounds since we launched it a few months ago. It’s a lovely community of enthusiastic sewists of all levels, and it’s so much fun to see what everyone is making! Please join us there as well. I try to pop in every so often to answer questions, etc., and I plan to be there even more this fall. So join us now and you won’t miss anything. (For example, we’re going to be unveiling our fall pattern release soon, and it includes something for everyone! Pattern proofs have arrived, and we’re starting to get excited.)

Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation, and we’ll see you soon!

    Dear Liesl,
As a very proved mover around the world, i can assure you that most of your electric items are able to been used in Spane as long as you use a appropriated Adapter. So you don’t have to leave that behind..
And welcome to Europe. a new way of life and lots of wonderful places to see, of kind people to meet. And people around Europe are very interested in crafts and sewing. You soon will have new friends to share your love of sewing. Good luck!

My cousin has a terrific business that you might want to consider called Done and Done, based in New York. They can help you with anything you might need (from organizing to figuring out how to rehome some treasures you’re willing to let go of.
