sewing translator now available for iPhone

You remember Sewing Translator, don’t you? We introduced this free translation tool last year and updated it to make it even more useful shortly after it was released.

We’re happy to announce today that Sewing Translator is now available as a native, stand-alone iPhone app.

Sewing Translator for iPhone

You can download your free copy of Sewing Translator from the Apple App Store.

In addition to having a clean, iPhone-specific user interface, the Sewing Translator app will allow you to translate even when you’re not connected to the Internet. This is useful for times when you’re deep in the back of a store and your phone has lost connectivity or when you’re traveling in a different country and have turned off data roaming. (Just make sure you’re connected the first time you open the app so it can download the translation files.)

Thanks, again, to all the members of the Oliver + S sewing community who volunteered their time to provide the translations.

Give the app a try and leave a review in the App Store to let us know what you think.

Oh wow! Congratulations!!! Is something planned for Android?

    1. We don’t have anything planned now but if we get enough requests….

  2. Please develop this for android also. This would be greatly appreciated!

  3. Hi! I have trouble with the app. It is Loading…. and nothing else happens. I’ve waited several minutes and it is still Loading… I have also turned my phone off and downloaded the app again.
I have iPhone 6 with the latest update so that should not be the problem. Any one else having this problem?

    1. When the app loads for the very first time I reaches out to a server to download the translation data file. If you are not connected to the internet or if your connection is very slow, this could be the cause of the problem. Try launching the app a couple more times and see if it can establish a connection and make the download.

  4. Whoa! This is the coolest! I’m going to go look for the app. Thank you! Can I pretend I’m learning another language if I just memorize sewing terms in other languages?

A few years later … is the app no longer available? The link doesn’t work and the App Store can’t find it (iPhone), so o am afraid I’ve missed it!

    1. We’ve decommissioned the app, so it is no longer available for downloading. Sorry. But you can still use the web version of the app with your iPhone’s browser at https://sewingtranslator.com.
