quick sewing tip: opening buttonholes

In today’s Quick Sewing Tip, I show you that you don’t need any special tools to open a buttonhole. Here’s an easy, safe way to cut your buttonholes using just your seam ripper.

  1. Tamara

I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who cuts her buttonholes this way! I love these little sewing tips videos!

  2. Ann

Wow! I never would have thought to do it that way. Never! Thank you!

  3. I’m really enjoying this series. I’ve long been convinced that Liesl has the best way to do everything in sewing, so I am glad to be adding her small techniques to my own practice 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for saying that, Allie!

  5. Diana

Thank you for posting this series of videos. I am really enjoying them!

  6. Jill

That’s a really good idea. I have been using a seam ripper with a pin across the far end but occasionally that slips up – I like your idea much better, thanks.

  7. Carol

    Excellent!!! Thanks

  8. Dixie

I love this! Much less nerve-wracking than trusting a pin at the end to stop the seam ripper.
