Have you heard about the French film, Populaire? It’s a romantic comedy about a speed typist in 1950s France, and the costumes are rumored to be Mad Men for the French crowd. Sounds like a cute story, too. You can read more about it here. Women’s Wear Daily had a nice article about the costumes, too. I love costuming. That might be Giulia’s influence on me.
I’m not personally attracted to the retro look as a fashion statement, but I love to draw inspiration from films for color palette, clothing details, and styling. And it certainly looks like Populaire will deliver on those fronts. Here are a few stills from the film.
Looks like the film will be opening in the states this March. Keep an eye out for it, and when I see it I’ll let you know how it is!
And, on an unrelated note, congratulations to Dana and Heather who were the two winners of our STC Craft book drawing this week. Thanks to all of you for sharing stories of your most memorable Christmas gift. I enjoyed reading all of them!
oooh the costumes do look great, I will keep my eye out for it in March.
Looks beautiful. I was just thinking today as I worked on my holiday fairy tale that pleats would a really fun change to the full skirt.
