introducing the makerie sewing!

Last spring I told you about the fabulous Makerie retreat in Boulder, Colorado. But I didn’t tell you about something very exciting that was in the works and which has now become a reality: a special one-time-only Makerie Sewing retreat! It will be a lot like the Makerie, but with all textile- and sewing-related workshops.

I’m so excited about this retreat! Ali deJohn, the organizer of both Makerie retreats, has an incredible attention to detail. Everything is beautifully planned so you can relax and enjoy yourself for the weekend. And we’ve worked together to structure this workshop so everyone can take four half-day classes. Did you get that? Four classes in one weekend! There is such a terrific variety to select from, I don’t know how you’ll choose. But I can guarantee that it’s going to be an incredible weekend, with lots of other activities outside of the classes themselves. We’re got a lot of fun things planned! And how great will it be to meet new friends! That’s my favorite part of the entire experience.

Here is the teacher and class line-up (and the part that I’ve been itching to tell you about for a while now):

Amy Butler: Creating Your Unique Color Story

Kaari Meng (French General) : Natural Plant Dyeing

Cal Patch (Design it Yourself Clothes) : Design Your Own Clothes

Jenny Hart (Sublime Stitching) : Illuminated Embroidery

Heather Jones (Olive and Ollie modern quilting) : Improvisational Patchwork Bolster Pillow or Mini Quilt

Tamar Mogendorff : Soft Sculpture

Liesl Gibson : Smocked Necklace

You can read what people had to say about last year’s experiences here. And here’s a great little video recap of last year’s event.

I hope you’ll hop over to explore the class listings and get excited about this. It’s really going to be so much fun. I hope you can come!
