Have you been noticing the ombre trend?
I just love it, whether it’s furniture, hair, quilts, or clothing. In fact, I have a Pinterest board dedicated to the look, so of course I sat right up and took notice when Crystal posted her adorable version of the trend as an ombre Ice Cream Dress. She made the color-blocked version of the pattern (View B) and chose a different shade of purple for each tier to get the ombre effect.
I emailed Crystal yesterday to ask about the dress, and this is what she had to say.
“I was inspired by all the colorblocking and ombre that have been floating around blog land this year. I found this dress from Gymboree and I decided it was time to make my own version of it using the ice cream dress pattern. I decided to use purple because there are so many lovely shades available. I used a plain quilting cotton, and I am very happy with how it turned out. So happy, in fact, that I made a second dress for my youngest daughter.”
(Psst: I think her version is much cuter, don’t you?)
You can see two more Ice Cream Dresses with similar effects here and here.
Thank you so much for the feature! I love seeing what everyone creates with your patterns!
Way cuter!
Of course her version is much cuter! What a lovely picture!

The ice-cream dress is such a great pattern – easy, timeless and perfect for both toddlers and older girls!
