notches: weekend winter activities with kids

Poor S was devastated when we took down the Christmas tree last weekend. She sobbed that all her holiday fun was over. I would imagine she’s not the only one feeling the January blues, either. I promised her some fun activities and thought you might like to share some of the ideas we’ve found to  try out this weekend.

Outdoor Fun

Colorful ice sculptures: ordinary life magic

This colored ice activity looks a little too stain risky to me, but the results certainly are beautiful: hurrayic

Indoor Fun

Animal sewing cards: just something I made

Crayons and watercolor paints make beautiful snowflake art: art projects for kids

The most adorable Martin Luther King Jr. portraits, made by preschoolers: preschool daze

More quick indoor activities that use household staples: ohdeedoh

Hope you have a great weekend!

How about just one ice scuplture that’s made from juices. It would be beatiful edible.

  2. : ) glad to have found you!

  3. Those ice sculptures are awesome, you can make your own Goldsworthy.

  4. I bet you could modify that water balloon idea using zip top bags, maybe just fill a bottom of one and put them in a cupcake tin to keep the water in the corner? I’ll have to give it a try when we get a little more snow.

    Thanks for the links!
