jump rope dress workshop at Spool

One Jump Rope Dress has been fully prepped and is ready for demonstration on Saturday at Spool in Philadelphia. Can’t wait to meet some new friends and talk sewing all day!

The fabric I’m using for my dress is from Denyse Schmidt’s upcoming fabric line, Hope Valley. Gorgeous, isn’t it? I can’t wait for the fabrics to be available in stores. And vintage purple mother-of-pearl buttons just seemed appropriate, if I can bring myself to remove them from their card.

Update: Here’s a recap of the day (complete with photos) from the nice folks at Spool.

  1. OOoo! That is going to be beautiful! I can't wait for Denyse's new line to ship out to our store! Can't wait to see the final product!
p.s. If you can take those vintage buttons off that beautiful card it might just inspire me to start doing the same with the many, many cards I have sitting around because I can't bring myself to take them off the card!! : )

  2. Oh Liesl, I so wish I could come to the demonstration. We used to live so close to Philly but are now way across the country in CA. Please post pics of the Jump Rope dress once it is completed. I love the fabric and those buttons are lovely. Have fun!!

  3. I am one Oliver+S-colored JELLY BELLY! (aka jealous) of… well, two things actually – the fact that I can't be there to enjoy the demonstration/class AND, of those lovely little buttons on that darling card. Were those from your personal stash? or were they something you picked up in N.Y.? PERFECT combination with that fabric!

I LOVE that fabric! And the buttons!!

  5. So sweet. Looking forward to class tomorrow. I cut out my paper pattern pieces last night and will be cutting out my fabric (already laundered) tonight. I need to pick out buttons! Laura, I hope you and/or Loop have some!

Oh, I wish I could be there!! I adore (on every level) the orange fabric and buttons. Perfection. I may have to search my stash for some vintage purple buttons, snatch up some of the exact fabric, and make this very dress for my Stella!!!

  7. Liesl — thanks for a fabulous class this past Saturday. I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Hope your dinner at the mysterious "M" restaurant was enjoyable.

  8. Katia, it was great to meet you! Thanks for coming, and please post a photo of the dress on your adorable daughter so we can all see it! xo, Liesl (and the restaurant was Matyson–delicious!)
