									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;m making sailor suits from my own pattern and trying to decide if the collar piece should be made out of a single thickness or a double thickness. I&#8217;m planning to edge it in bias tape as part of the stripes pattern. </p>
<p>The fabric is a nice heavy sateen cotton with a tiny bit of stretch. </p>

<p>i have the vouge coat and am stumped on the collar.  its hard to see in the photo but the collar itself doesnt come all the way to the edge of the jacket, it has a separate piece that buttons on each side that closes the gap. I got pairs for my boys this year, one of the newer styles that has adjustable buckles over the toes as well which seemed like it helped with fit, they are pretty wide.<br />

These are all some great options and it&#8217;s so helpful to see the variations<br />
I think I&#8217;m going to get the vouge pattern and lengthen the collar, and raise the waist seam and add the pleat.<br />
Sadly my fabric store doesn&#8217;t have the new patterns in so I have some time to scheme</p>

<p>Its dangerous what one can find on Etsy easily now.  Especially wiht O+S as a gateway to vintage patterns</p>

<p>In the meantime now someone in the house was trying to be helpful with the laundry and put it in the wash and dryer, so I guess that is done 🙂 The good news is it shrunk only a tiny bit so it still fits the smaller one just fine.  And it did seem to soften up.</p>

<p>i had prewashed it but not dried it (i cant even remember why! i usually dry stuff for kids clothes).  all the tips im finding for softening linen are to wash on hot and dry.  </p>

<p>The pattern pieces are all uncut.</p>
<p>I know some people prefer paper patterns and this one is no longer in print.</p>

It&#8217;s quite small, just one stitch worth but it is there 🙁<br />
What do I do? Put interfacing on the back? Something else? Try to come up with a patch to put there?<br />

<p>One on the left is made out of wool from papa&#8217;s old toggle coat, the right is new Melton (a bit lighter weight but still warm enough for now).  Both have train print cotton lining. A few more days of cold but not too cold weather to try them out starts tomorrow!</p>

<p>Head: 21 1/4&#8243;<br />
Chest: 22&#8243;<br />
Hips: 23&#8243;<br />
Shoulders: 26&#8243;<br />
Bum: 24 1/4&#8243;<br />
Shoulders to hips: 14&#8243;<br />
Shoulders to ground: 39&#8243;<br />
Top of head to ground: 46 1/2&#8243;</p>
<p>on the size chart it looks like she is a 4 for the hip and chest but a 6 for length (she is a pretty tall skinny girl).  </p>

unfortunately i find even well fitting pants often make me uncomfortable when im sitting, something about how they press on my stomach even if its not overly tight.  maybe there is a sewing/fit trick i could use to address this.</p>
