Kind of how you would do the BB dress with a partial cap or flutter sleeve, or the Butterfly blouse. Then the front yoke would be self-finished and lay over.</p>

The music class shirt is a nice sew, though, and doesn&#8217;t have the stand part at all.</p>

Keep in mind that a jacket goes over other sleeves, so more room in the armholes is better. Maybe add 1/2 inch in length a few inches down from the shoulder in the bodice, and the sleeve cap to match.</p>

But the Sketchbook has served me well for many many iterations, and making it short-sleeved with the collar is that pic exactly. You can also do Peter pan collars on little boys as long as they are low enough on the chest to button all the way up.</p>

I used dupioni, with french seams, lined with cotton voile &#8212; it was comfortable and beautiful with just the right amount of swirl and spin, and held the (painstakingly, squintingly applied) beads nicely.</p>

The only issue dd had with it was that it was straight, skimming the hips and thus too narrow to really run in by knee level. if that might be an issue for your dd, you could either flare the side seams out into an a-line after the &#8220;waist,&#8221; or maybe add gussets. </p>

I do remember for my own first communion in Catholic school we had a uniform &#8212; a very sweet empire-waist puff sleeve affair in voile.<br />
How old is your girl for confirmation &#8212; is it 7th or 8th grade? I forgot to add that I also cut the neck opening just a bit wider &#8212; on the sewing line vs the cutting line, both front and back. It was worth it because there&#8217;s no more of this fabric&#8230; pretty sure it&#8217;s from when i was in high school or early college 27 years ago or so!</p>
