We’ve just heard from Flat S again. After she reported in last, she headed west toward the continental divide and has paid a visit to the Knowles family in Colorado. Mom Sandi Knowles is here today to fill us in on what Flat S has been up to lately.
Flat S arrived in Windsor, Colorado at a very busy time, which she thought was great. In fact, I think she assumed that we had planned it all for her. (Don’t tell her it was coincidence!)
She got to join in on one of our Girl Scout Brownie troop meetings.
I am a leader for Clara’s troop. I adore these silly girls.
She also got to tour the Denver US Mint (no cameras allowed inside, unfortunately).
The wind was a bit too much for her to pose with the kids before we went inside.
Luckily, the wind calmed down by the time we finished the tour (and the all-important visit to the gift shop).
She also learned how a farrier makes horse shoes at the Colorado Classic Horse Show.
Not sure if you can tell, but the flat side is still red hot here.
Flat S came along with us to the Downtown Aquarium in Denver. This was a rare treat for all of us. We were guests at a special function, which included dinner and time to tour the exhibits.
She and Erik enjoyed a chat in the ballroom before dinner was served.
The aquarium has so many beautiful displays, big and small. There are even tigers, but they were not to be seen when we reached their enclosure. I highly recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.
Flat S really enjoyed the large tanks.
Because we have a small yard and no other dogs to wrestle with, we often bring Waylon (and Oliver on this day) for a romp at the dog park. Flat S preferred to stay safely in my bag to watch. There were LOTS of dogs on this day.
A snooze on the couch typically follows the dog park. (I think Flat S was asleep in the car at this point.)
And, of course we checked in on the Oliver + S website often.
Flat S asked me to take a picture of the view along our main road so that you could all see what the Rocky Mountains look like from our town. Once again, the wind was a bit too much for her, so she stayed in the car for this one. It’s rather windy here in the spring!
We enjoyed having Flat S stay with us, and I hope you enjoyed a little peek into life in our neck of the woods. Maybe someday she can visit again during warmer (and less windy) weather, so we can take her camping in the mountains.
Thanks for hosting her, Sandi! As always, we can’t wait to find out where she’s headed next.
