Average rating: (5 of 5) based on 13 reviewsfast sew!Reviewed by Chandra (Verified Buyer) on 09/02/2015I added to the blouse and flared it at the bottom and it made an adorable dress! The sleeves seemed plenty big at the bottom so I put elastic in them to keep them from seeming too baggy on my daughters very thin arms...would for sure sew it again! Started it during my kids afternoon naps and was done before supper! Was this helpful?Super cute summer setReviewed by Laura (Verified Buyer) on 08/29/2015I've sewn this set up once and loved it! I even bought the pattern in the larger sizes so I can sew it up again. The blouse is roomy, though, so don't size up.

My previous sewing projects from Oliver+s were the Lazy Days Skirt and the Popover dress. I really enjoyed making these shorts for my six year old. She is really slim and the sizing was perfect! The elastic waistband on the back side really helped perfect the fit. There were a lot of pattern pieces for a pair of shorts but that is really what makes them so special and with really nice details. I couldn't find a good pairing of fabrics so I just used one print and it looked great. My only head scratching moment was when I was deciding between my 1/2" elastic and my 3/4". I thought the 3/4" was the better choice but I am certain the instructions say 1/2" (not the list of supplies but the point in the instructions were it says to insert the elastic). It didn't make a big difference but I updated my instructions so I wouldn't forget next time. Overall this is an excellent shorts pattern!1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?favorite shortsReviewed by Elizabeth (Verified Buyer) on 07/01/2015This is my favorite pattern for little girl shorts! I've made 4 or 5 pairs in various sizes. The possibilities are endless- contrast bindings, ruffles, etc! The top is quick and easy. The shorts fit snugly over a cloth diaper.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great pattern!Reviewed by Crystal (Verified Buyer) on 06/06/2015So far I have made three pairs of the shorts and two blouses (one with knit). The pattern is adorable and of course easy to follow. Both the shorts and the blouse come together quickly and I love how you can customize the trim on the shorts. I've done the trim as called for in the pattern, used a 1" bias tape and am thinking I will make a pair of the shorts trimmed with lace. Best of all, the shorts are not too short! Thank you for another great pattern. Was this helpful?I Anticipate sewing with easeReviewed by Bethany on 10/29/2014I haven't seen it yet but I have the "Oliver and S Little Things to Sew" book and am making my way through that. Patterns explain in detail what to do! Thank you Leisl for making the so user friendly! Can't wait to sew the picnic blouse & shorts! Was this helpful?Easy Peasy Really CuteReviewed by Chinese Immersion Mom on 10/07/2014I sewed two pairs of these shorts with some sneaky fabric to match some school uniform jumpers that I had made. The shorts turned out to be absolutely adorable and should be a sneaky fun addition to the school uniforms. My daughter goes to Chinese immersion school, so I used black for the shorts to meet the school uniform requirements and then used some Michael Miller Chinese kids on the striping on one pair and pink panda on another. OMG Cute. Was this helpful?Another fun pattern!Reviewed by Linda Madson on 09/19/2014Love this fun and easy to go together pattern. It went together beautifully and the instructions were easy to follow with professional looking results.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?perfect shortsReviewed by Iris on 09/08/2014I purchsed both sizes of this pattern because it's the perfect girls shorts pattern for me. It has style, I love the options in displaying fabrics or working with piping. I have sewn this up three or four times already and hope to do some more!1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?picnic blouse + shortsReviewed by Terry on 09/02/2014I love this pattern as a top the next one I make, I think I will try a dressWas this helpful?Class Picnic shortsReviewed by Carrie on 08/12/2014These shorts turned out so nice! Fabulous details that look like they would be difficult, but,as with every O+S pattern I've sewn, Liesl walked me right thru the tricky parts and I had no trouble getting great results. I even lengthened the size 6 to a 7 length. It took some thought with those curved facings, but Liesl's tutorial helped a lot! I would highly recommend this pattern and can't wait to sew up the blouse :)1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? An Elegant Peasant!Reviewed by Nicole on 07/05/2013When is a peasant blouse not a peasant blouse? When it is designed by Oliver + S! Love love love this blouse pattern, in fact, I have lost count of how many I have made. I have lengthened its hem and sleeves and added an elastic casing. I have decorated the front yoke with pearl buttons. Added sashes and ties.... the list could go on (and so could I). The arm binding is very neat and clever, I blogged a wee tute http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2011/10/ive-got-them-class-picnic-neck-band.html The shorts are so groovy. Proper shortie shorts but all the bits that need to be covered are. I love the neat facing and I blogged a tute here if you would like a peep http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/a-short-tutorial-groan.html And how cute is this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/7745103580/in/set-72157626639099661/1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? My favorite O+S patternReviewed by Masha on 07/03/2013I have sewn all or part of 13 Oliver + S patterns, and this has to be my favorite one. I've sewn this sweet little top five times, and now that my girls have outgrown all of those, I will sew at least five more for this fall. They are the perfect layering piece for those in-between spring and fall days. This is also a very easy sew and a versatile pattern - you can lengthen it into a dress or omit the sleeves and finish the armholes with bias to make a summery tank top. The straight lines make french seams on the sides a no-brainer, and the yoke construction is such that there are no exposed seams there, either. My only beef is that it is very hard to machine-hem tiny sleeves in the smaller sizes - I get around this problem by either hemming by hand (kind of fun in front of the tv, if I am in the mood), or hemming the sleeves before sewing up the side seams if I'm using a light fabric. Even so, this is definitely my favorite O+S pattern.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?
