Weird grading for the smallest sizes
Reviewed by Emily ( Verified Buyer) on 12/14/2020
I was really excited to make this top up. It’s cute and the instructions contain directions that make nice finishes. But I think the grading is off for baby sizes. Babies have quite stubby little limbs, and the sleeve was extremely long on my 6 month old even tho the body more or less fit. It kind of seemed as though the sleeve length was graded down in line with normal grading for kids rules without taking into account the peculiarities of babies.

Great pattern. Easy and good results

I love it. It takes no time to sew and the results are great. It fits perfect. The gathering in the sleeves is a bit tricky if you haven’t done it before. But it’s not hard to do it.

I've made a few of these so far and really enjoy the pattern more and more as I make them. My first had a few hiccups that resulted in the neck being a bit tight but I solved the mistake on my second top! The pattern seems to fit on the smaller side, my son is a smaller average 18month old and he'll be outgrowing the 18m size very soon.

      So cute!

I made a size 6 mo. and 3. Love the facing on the bottom and the curved hem. Sleeves fit a bit long. Haven't tried the 6 mo. Yet. Can't wait to make a stripe version. Somehow my printer didn't print all the lines on the 6 mo. size. I'm baffled since I use the same computer and printer for all my O+S patterns. Todd helped me out. Thanks.

I've used this pattern over and over for my little boy (now three). My "trademark" is to use little wooden buttons, always a nice touch. Stripey nautical cotton knits have worked beautifully. it's a lovely look on a boy, a bit different from other styles around, and super stylish.

This was my first project using Oliver + S patterns. It was a great experience and I loved the detailed instructions and pattern pieces. The notches really helped to set the different pieces in their right places. I really want to try the tunic/dress mod in the tutorials, I think it will be so cute! https://www.flickr.com/photos/pavoreal/15090274363/in/pool-oliverands/

      Snappy Styling in a Single

What a lovely little sewing lesson wrapped up in a gorgeous top! Liesl holds your hand and gently guides you through sewing this very smart little top for your Little One. Not too loose not too tight, with a lovely shaped hem and BUTTONS to help facilitate dressing those big headed babies. This top is a fabulous canvas for that special print or looks equally gorgeous in a plain with contrast stitching. If your child dislikes putting on firm fitting clothes, size up or use a knit or stretch woven. I love to add bobble fringe to the hem. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/9332602636/in/set-72157625138776927 I did find the larger sizes could do with a wee bit of sleeve length added (for my children, anyway) Don't be put off by the PDF. Oliver+s do them so well!
