This pattern sewed up like a dream. Attention to detail is necessary, but following the thorough directions will lead to success.

      Joyful Pinwheel

I made this for my granddaughter. Very easy to follow directions. The bias trim was perfect. I made red stretch velvet leggings and a jacket to wear with the under dress.

      Mistake turned into fashion delight
Reviewed by JoAnn Horne ( Verified Buyer) on 10/19/2018
First time making and mistakenly cut the back opening on front piece. Limited material made me adjust second ruffle to be attached to tunic instead of making the under dress. Bias taped opening, and all edges along with bodice to ruffle seam. Used elastic loops to close two-button front opening. Turned out a hit! Love this pattern and looking forward to making another one already.

      My daughter’s favorite dresses
    Reviewed by Marsha on 08/22/2018
My just turned 5 year old loves this dress pattern. I’ve made it for her twice and both dresses have been worn over and over. She can get them on herself without a struggle since it has no closures and she loves the twirl factor. I’ve made the tunic too and like it, although my daughter is less excited to wear it.

      Good for novice ruffle sewers
Reviewed by Babs ( Verified Buyer) on 03/09/2017
My favourite thing about O+S patterns is the sewing tips. I'm an experienced garment sewer and I learn something helpful every time. In particular, the tips for successfully sewing the ruffle were excellent and would have saved me a lot of seam ripping when I was a learner. Wish I could upload photos as this pattern turned out great for a 2yo and an 8yo!

      Daughter loves it

This dress was a pleasure to sew. It came out well and is worn as often as it's clean. Made as a Christmas dress and can't wait to make another. My little one had fun picking out the fabric.

      Birthday Dress
Reviewed by SwissKnitWitch ( Verified Buyer) on 07/28/2015
I found the pattern very easy to put together and the instructions were really good. I added buttons and button holes to the sundress straps, and put the opening for the tunic to the front so that my granddaughter can dress herself easier. Size 5 was a perfect fit for her 5th birthday!

      Easter dresses
Reviewed by Bev Fessler on 04/07/2015
I actually made two dresses for my Granddaughters. The pattern was easy to download and easy to put together. I did struggle with the very first ruffle, but soon figured out what i was doing wrong. I made sizes 3 and 5 and they fit perfectly. I added a small piece of elastic to the back of the spaghetti strap when attaching it to the dress, just to make it easier for the girls to put on. I have used and will continue to use Oliver+S patterns.

  • Errata

There was a minor error in the first printing of the instructions. The second sentence of Step 3 under the heading Prepare the Tunic Front and Back should read, "... fuse the cut 1" x 6" strip of interfacing vertically at the center-back neckline...."

This error has been corrected in the digital version of the pattern.

    Determining Which Printing You Have

As errata are discovered, they are marked for correction in subsequent printings of the pattern. To determine which printing of an instruction sheet or pattern sheet you have, look at the copyright box which appears on each. Toward the bottom of the box, there is a series of numbers.

The lowest number you see there indicates which printing you have. For example, if the lowest number in the box on the instruction sheet is "2," you have an instruction sheet from the second printing. Any errors in the instructions mentioned for the first printing have been corrected in your version. If the lowest number in the box on the pattern sheet is "1," you have a copy of the pattern sheet from the first printing.

Pattern sheets and instructions sheets can be printed separately, so be sure to check the errata notices for pattern pieces against the printing number on the pattern sheet and errata notices for instructions against the printing number on the instruction sheet.
