With the holidays fast approaching, we thought it’d be fun to show a few inspiring images of boy outfits, along with fabric and pattern suggestions too!
Sew a Sketchbook Shirt in a great red and green flannel or a classic blue or white shirting for a comfy but classic layering piece. Check out these real examples – plaid flannel by Kim MacMillan, white by Spool Sewing.
If you’re in a warmer climate, pair the Sketchbook Shirt + Shorts with the Art Museum Vest in a solid color linen or twill and you’ve got yourself a dapper little outfit, just like this one from mcholley1!
Colorblock the Field Trip Raglan in a heavy interlock or felted adult sweaters (go up a size for layering) and throw it over a Sketchbook Shirt with some brightly colored Art Museum Trousers or After School Pants for a modern, casual look.
Or go classically formal with a red tartan Art Museum Vest + Trousers (especially dapper with a white shirt and tie underneath!). The Art Museum pattern would be great in a more casual corduroy or herringbone flannel as well, as shown over at Better off Thread and Pippi1997.
Here are some fabric suggestions found over at Robert Kaufman Fabrics.
For shirts:
house of wales plaid | white oxford | blue oxford
For vests/trousers:
black yarn dyed essex linen/cotton | green velveteen | red 21-wale corduroy | shetland herringbone flannel
