Regards from Norway,Was this helpful?Awaiting arrival of new Liberty materialI have a sad tale to tell. I purchased what was purported to be Liberty Cotton Poplin at a "bargain" price (not from Liberty I might add). I wasted 2 days in trying to make this up - seams puckered - when I tried the burn test, it was not cotton but a man made fibre. All ended in the bin. The moral of this story is that the cheapest can easily turn out to be the dearest.
Looking forward to starting again. I am delighted with all Oliver+s patterns.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? This is my favourite Oliver + s designI bought this pattern to make for my grand-daughter and its perfect, I really love this pattern. I love all the Oliver + S patterns I've tried so far, they are beautiful easy to make designs.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Birthday party dressI bought this pattern and I received the download immediately. I made the dress and am very happy with the results. I found the instructions quite clear and only ran into difficulties with how to attach the facing but looked in the discuss section on your website and someone explained it. I would like to share a photo of my dress. Where can I send it?2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Sweet retro dressThis is a sweet dress. Based on the pattern sizing I made my daughter a size 4 because I like kids clothes to fit true. However I think it's a tiny bit small. I'll make the 5 next time. The print out wasn't hard to put together and it lays out nicely. I'm an experienced sewer but I don't usually use patterns. I got really confused on the neckline facing but after googling it and finding others with the problem I followed their advice and trusted the pattern. I sewed slowly very step by step and it came together beautifully. It's a lovely design.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?A fun sewI love this little dress. You have to follow the pattern exactly and the outcome will be perfect. It is an unusual looking dress. (Something that stands out in the crowd.) I also loved the tip about the pleats. I have purchased additional fabric to make another one.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? So easy to sew....I sewed the birthday dress in light denim with gingham facing. The instructions were easy to follow and the dress is so cute.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Digital birthday party dressJust love this wee dress, the first time I made it , it turned out smaller than expected. I later realised that I had printed out the pattern smaller than it should have been (I didnt check the 1 inch square after printing it out). The next time I printed out the digital pattern and then copied it at 108% to get the correct size. (This might have been due to the difference in US and NZ paper sizes. I am planning on making this again in a light weight denim with printed fabric for the pleated section. I saw this dress made up in a childrens clothing shop several years ago and nearly brought one even though I didn't know at the time the gender of my first grandchild. Soooo exciting to find the pattern availableWas this helpful? So beautifulI only have the buttons left, otherwise I am finished. This dress is so beautiful. The facings are tricky, IF you've never done facings on an O + S pattern. But you have to learn sometime, and once you do, you'll look forward to doing it this way because the end product is so professional. Also, the little tip about edge stitching the pleats to help them remain crisp! Awesome. Those box pleats will lie perfectly every time.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Beautiful Birthday DressI cannot believe I have only made this once, it is such a beautiful dress. I used a silk dupion and the results were breathtaking (no false modesty here) http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/5090602387/in/set-72157625264753370 For all you 'perfect inside' finish junkies, french seams work really well. I hand sewed all the facings and hems and even used hand sewn poppers to fasten the back so it was machine stitch free on the outside. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/5091011887/in/set-72157625264753370/ A few girls have struggled with facing. It does fit! I promise! The facing wraps slightly around itself. If you check out the forum there are some good descriptions on how to do this. Last year my daughter pulled this dress out of retirement and snazzed it up for a disco. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/7465803812/in/set-72157625264753370/ Now that is a versatile dress! As well as the bow there is a lovely tab front option. Perfect to show off that special button you have been saving. After pressing in the front pleats in I under sewed them in place. It made ironing a lot more pleasant. One of the classic Oliver+S pattern and I am so pleased to see it released in digital. Was this helpful?cute as a birthday buttonLOVE this dress. Made it for my granddaughter and she looks adorable in it. I hadn't sewn in a long time, but the directions were so clear and easy to follow, that it was no problem at all to put together.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? -
