I was intimidated, but now I'm not!I was so intimidated by the waist band, that I put off making these pants for years. They went together so beautifully and I are so cute. The directions were very clearWas this helpful?Nature walk pantsThese pants have the most amazing fit as do the cargo pants. They are so wonderful that I make them as shorts for the summer. The cargo pants/shorts I just leave off the lower pockets and adjust the length so that the front and back are the same. These are the ONLY pattern that I'll need for my grandson until he no longer will let me make his clothes. I LOVE the instructions because as I am seeing along. I'll say to myself, " what about..." and I'll look at the directions and printed at my next step is my answer! It's like you're right next to me watching!! These are perfect in every way.Was this helpful?Great fitting pants!I have made 2 pairs of the pants and they fit beautifully and both girls are thrilled with them. They are fun to sew (I particularly like the elastic insertion method in the waistband) and now am wishing I had the next size up. I also would love a similar pair for myself! Was this helpful?as the child grows, oliver and s must followI have made these pants at least four times from 12 month to 3T. I love this style and fit and so does my DiL. My eldest grandchild is soon to out grow of my current size pattern, so I took advantage of a sale to stock up on the next set of sizes so I can keep supplying nice fitting and good looking knit pants. Was this helpful?Easy dressingI made the pants for my grandson, using fabric a little less stretchy than recommended. He’s a slender kiddo. I omitted the ribbing and created a mock cuff at the ankles. The sizing is right on and the instructions are thorough. This was the PDF version and I give the pattern an A+ for ease of assemble. Was this helpful?Great boys shirtI made the top. It sewed up beautifully. Will be making more of these. Was this helpful?Easy to sewI made the top and it worked out beautifully. I love oliver+s patterns! Next time I will round the collar to make it more girly as suggested by a previous reviewer. Not that it bothers my little tomboy daughter. :)Was this helpful?Good looking and easy slim fit pantsI bought the pattern for the top but my daughter wanted lightweight "sweat pants" for the spring, so I made the pants first. She measures right in the middle of size 6, so I made her a size 7, to have room to grow. The pants are a still fitted, but have some looseness around the bum and hips. I used a poly/cotton interlock with crosswise stretch but no vertical stretch, which provided great drape and softness. The pants were an easy 4 pieces to assemble using an overcast stitch on a standard sewing machine. I only had 2 problems on the project. The first was that attaching the waistband involved sewing along the stretch, which made it difficult to have the seam lay flat, though I tried very hard not to stretch the material. The second problem was that the pants were too short. I had to add a 2 inch cuff to the bottom. Not ideal, but it worked, and that will be avoided when I lengthen the pattern on the second pair that I am making. I can't wait to try the top.Was this helpful?Knit pantsI have made these pants twice and both times they turned out wonderful. The instructions are awesome! The fit was spot on.Was this helpful?Super Cute -- Super Easy -- seems like a slim fitThese pants are so cute and are really easy to sew. I do not have a serger and I had NO problems with sewing the pants -- I just used a very shallow zigzag for the seams. The pants are a "slim fit" style -- not a lot of fullness in the bum, which is why some say the pattern runs small. I just made the 2T size in a sweatshirt fleece and it fits great IF my gs is wearing a disposable diaper. It's almost impossible to get them on if he's got a cloth diaper in a cover. I will be going up to the 3T size for the next iteration. Was this helpful?Good patternThis is a simple pattern to make and I like that it can easily be adapted for a girl too - just round the lapel and you've got a cute girls top. My complaint with the pattern is that the pants run at least one size small - I made this from stretchy fleece in a size 2T and the pants were too small in the bum & upper thighs for my son who wears 18 -24 month pants. (he's in the 24th percentile for weight so it's not like I was trying to squeeze them on him)
If you plan to make this pattern I recommend making the pants one size larger than your would normally put your child in -- and if your child has beautiful chubby thighs then go up at least 2 sizes. Was this helpful?I don't know why I have overlooked...This is a wonderful pattern. I have just completed my first pullover and it was a dream to sew. So, so cute. So many variations are possible. It came together beautifully and the outcome is adorable. I will making many more in the future for both my granddaughter and grandson. Love it!Was this helpful? -
