Everyday SkirtLovely pattern! It was so nice to cut out and put together, and the instructions are great. The skirt is comfortable and cute, and has pockets!!Was this helpful?Great PatternI really like this pattern. The instructions are great. Love the pockets and the contouring side panels. I made the first in cotton and will choose a fabric with more drape next time. I'll also size down as this one, made based on pattern measurements, is too loose even when placed on my low hip (it stays put but I'd like a little more security and less puffiness). Overall, excellent! Was this helpful?Everyday SkirtWas very easy because the direction were excellent... I've made 3 of these skirts so farWas this helpful?A Must-Have Wardrobe StapleThis pattern exceeded my expectations. I made one for my sister, who is recovering from a broken femur, and was so pleased on how easy it was to make and how wonderful it turned out. She loves it so much. The pockets are very generous. It’s perfect for a cellphone. I plan on making one for myself. This kind of garment will always be in style.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Angela O’RourkeI recently purchased the Everyday Skirt pattern. I loved it so much that I immediately made another straight away! The sizing was spot on and fitted me perfectly. The instructions were so well set out and explained well. I can’t believe I took so long to order a an Oliver + S pattern! The Yanaka jacket is next on my list. Thanks Liesl! Was this helpful?Everyday skirtThe instructions were abundantly clear and it was a fun and easy project. I made my skirt out of an old sheet and am wearing it to an outdoor wedding next month! Was this helpful?I've made three..so far!I'm thrilled, I can't believe I've sewn something so cute & wearable. The everyday skirt was my first garment sewing project (and then my second & third). I'm grateful the instructions were clear to guide me. I've learned so much. Since I've not worked with a pattern before & took my measurements twice. Since I was between sizes, I took the advice of the community and choose the smaller size. The three skirts have all turned out perfect! They fit better than what I could buy. I like the polished look of the front & the pockets. This skirt is so versatile with fabric choice and even adjusting the hem length. I'm already excited to look for more fabric and choose my next Oliver + S pattern! Was this helpful?quick and cuteThis took me a couple of hours to make and the instructions were easy to follow. I made it more of a higher waist skirt as find the style more flattering. I did not find it too full in the back maybe because I am quite full in the back as well! I do want to make it a bit fuller in the front to make it easier to ride my bike in. Will do this next time. For reference, I am a size 8 jeans and medium in stretchy pants; ! made a medium but took the waist in several inches. Was this helpful?A lovely skirt to sew if you don't have a lot of time.I loved the fact that this skirt doesn't have zips or buttons, one less thing to factor in time wise. The directions are very clear though I haven't ended up with perfect pockets but that's probably because I was rushing. Will definitely make another version when I have a bit more time. The skirt is really comfy and quite pretty. Was this helpful?Quick. easy and stylishThis is a great skirt, it was quick and easy to sew and I love the pocket detail. I went down two sizes and next time I make one I will probably reduce the fullness in the back a little. But overall I'm very happy with this lovely little skirt. Was this helpful?Easy constructionThis pattern was a quick and easy piece. I like the instructions with little hints to give you a polished look. Was this helpful?Everyday skirtThings I liked about the pattern: Easy construction, loved the pocket detail. Quick pattern. Feedback: By my measurements I made a small and then ended up needing to take it apart to modify to XS. And agree -- the back was much fuller than I expected. Was this helpful?AmazingThis is the first piece of clothing I have sewn and it has turned about to be a real success. So much so that I have made it three times!! The pattern assembly was really straightforward and I loved sticking the pattern pieces together after being cut rather than sticking loads and loads of pieces of paper together as with other pdf patterns I’ve seen. The instructions were easy to follow too with no need of help from google or YouTube. I can’t believe that the first item of clothing I have seen has actually turned out to be not just wearable but actually nice. I would thoroughly recommend this pattern!2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great easy pattern! It had been awhile since I'd sewn any garments, so I wanted to start with a relatively easy pattern. This was great! It was so easy to print the pattern at home. The directions were clear, and I love my product! I agree with another recent reviewer that the pattern is a little fuller/blousier on the back panel than I expected, so I will think about ways to edit that for my next go at the pattern. Nonetheless, my final product is lovely.2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?everyday skirtThis skirt is a wonderful skirt for beginners - instructions are clear and well done. It does run larger than what I wanted my skirt to be so I jumped down two sizes. The back skirt has too much fullness for me - I recut the back skirt side seam and used the same shape as the side panel, making it more of an A line shaped back skirt piece. The elastic was still enough to be able to pull it on easily. Next time I will try darts or pleats and maybe a zipper. I love the panel on the side and the pockets.3 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Good everyday skirtGood instructions and a straightforward sew. I like the fit and have worn this skirt many times since making it.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? My new skirt for springI am a beginner where sewing is concerned and therefore I started early to prepare my spring wardrobe. I made the skirt out of Art Gallery " Lambkin " - Oats Arista Oats and it worked like a breaze and looks just as I had imagined. Wonderful pattern and great tutorial!1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? What a great findI purchased the Everyday skirt pattern because I was so frustrated with the poor fit, horrid fabric choices and general poor quality of skirts in stores. I wanted something pretty for work and this little pattern allowed me to make just that. The pattern and instructions are easy peasy to follow, the size is true to measurements and I love the versatility of this pattern. This will make skirts for summer or winter by easily adding a lining and changing from elastic to zippered. And I love a skirt with pockets so this is a total winner!1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?a very good patternI made the skirt. The pattern is true to size, the instructions are very clear and easy to follow and the end product came out just like in the picture. After wearing it a few times I can also say the pockets are a true gift in this skirt - not only easy to make, but very roomy and comfortable to use without looking bulky on the skirt. I'm definitely going to sew a few more in different fabrics and lengths.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Pretty & Easy -Size DownThis skirt was an easy make, the side panels are very flattering and it has pockets! The pattern was easy to assemble. Based on previous reviews I sized down to a large. I also graded out some of the fullness at the bottom of the side panel to reduce the A-line. I made the first in a soft fleece and it turned out well; so soft and comfy to wear. I top-stitched the pockets instead of under stitching and also flat felled the side seams. I did not like the instruction to trim the seam allowance before topstitching the waistband, I thought it made this step harder. I used a non stretch interfacing for the waistband. For my second skirt(out of poplin) I reduced the centre front seam by 2" and instead of gathers I did a couple of pleats near the pockets. I also sewed the waistband to the front first. I tacked it down from the back and then topstitched from the front. I did not trim the seam allowance. This worked out well for me. I also made the pockets deeper as I have large hands. I also did the topstitching and flat felling again. For my next one I will try a drapier fabric. And perhaps try some pleats in the back.7 of 7 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Excellent beginner patternI bought this pattern because I wanted to make a skirt without having to sew an invisible zipper so I chose this skirt after reading a recommendation by one of the Fancy Tiger Craft ladies. My muslin came up huge. According to the instructions my size would be a large, but it was ginormous. I retraced the pattern in a medium size but there wasn't enough difference between the two sizes and I was afraid it would still be too large. So the second time around I cut a size small and it was just perfect when sewed up. The only thing I struggled with was having neat finishes between the front and the back waistband. The second time I made the skirt still I didn't understand how to do it correctly but now I guess I got what I was doing wrong! So I have cut some new fabric and I'm about to sew this a third time. It's a very versatile pattern that I think I'll keep using!4 of 4 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Everyday Skirt- Lovely makeReally well planned pattern,no gathers at hips= more streamlined. Whole shape is flattering and you can size down for even more compact silhouette. As long as elastic isnt too tight you are in business! PDF and garment came together easily. Definitely recommend5 of 5 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?simple, stylish and well-lovedgreat pattern. instructions are clear and the illustrations really do help if traditional pattern-talk confuses you as a beginner maker. have made the skirt twice now, and both versions are, already, well-worn. love the pockets! easy to sew, but stylish and with enough detail to really make a piece others comment on. thank you!2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?A "must have" patternInitially I made a size L based on measurements. It is very pretty and I have received many compliments. The next one I decided to go down a size to a M. It also is a "go to" skirt in my wardrobe. The next one I make will be adjusted in between both sizes, which is easy to do with this pattern. I love the L because it is so roomy and comfy, but I think it makes me look larger than I am. There is a little too much fabric in the back. Pattern was easy to follow and went together very quickly.3 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Adorable skirt, Size downI made this skirt up in a size L based on my measurements in a beautiful black rayon/linen blend. The instructions were well written and the pattern easy to follow. The skirt turned out adorable, but sadly, way too big. Next time I will size down and eliminate the side panels as I don't think they are needed.4 of 4 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Love it!This was really an easy pattern to use. I like how it fits. I do like how she has the side panels in the design. It looks very nice. People have asked me where I bought it! I have another pretty piece of fabric to make a second one.2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?First skirt from a patternFantastic pattern for beginners. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. The pockets are in the perfect spot and the fit of the skirt compliments the curves. I love this skirt and already plan to make more in different fabrics. Thanks for giving me sewing confidence.2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Cute and easyI love the skirt, and I just finished it over the weekend (with the cutest fox print I've ever seen!!) The pockets are the best. I will make more. I'd love to know if there is a variation of this skirt that uses a zipper instead of elastic.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? The perfect summer skirt!I had initially passed over this pattern because I thought 'a gathered waist skirt, how complicated can that be?' Well, I underestimated Liesl and Co. This is a well thought out, well engineered skirt. It's a super quick sew, it's flattering, it's comfortable (I LOVE the elastic waist). I've made six (six!!) of these since I bought the pattern maybe a month ago. It's become my summer uniform, because it's as comfortable as wearing pajamas, but looks much better.6 of 6 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Want to make more Everyday skirtsI always have to enlarge waist areas (all my extra weight is there), and shorten patterns. This pattern was easily modified, and was very easy to make. I want to make more:) I'm clicking 5 stars but it doesn't seem to be staying yellow. In case I did it wrong, this gets 5 stars!2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Love this patternThis pattern was so easy. My only sewing experience before this was a drawstring pouch. The instructions are very clear and very easy to follow. I'm already looking for some more fabric to make a second one!3 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Easy and cute! What more can you want in a patternThis is so well written, it is easy. Pockets are awesome and the skirt is so cute. Goes together fast enough the night before.2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great Skirt! This is a very easy pattern to make and cute too. The large pockets come in very handy. I would agree with others in that it runs large so plan to make at least one size smaller.3 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?quick, good-looking skirtElevates the basic elastic waist skirt to a point that it no longer appears homemade and is now custom!4 of 4 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great, easy sewThis pattern is really versatile because it can show off lots of different fabrics, including having contrasting fabric for the pockets. I get a lot of compliments at work when I wear the two skirts I've made so far. One has a bold bird print, and the other is pinstripe. I also like the pattern for economical reasons. It doesn't use too much fabric and no zips are required. All in all, I love this pattern. I will be making many more!7 of 7 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Everyday SkirtI am new to sewing. This skirt pattern was easy to follow. The directions took me step by step through the process. It even had pictures on how to lay the pattern pieces out to cut. I made one out of light denim and one buffal check skirt. Perfect for teaching!3 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Nice skirtThe skirt is extremely comfortable, very professional looking, and very high quality instructions. I made the size small in a Cloud 9 cotton directional print. I made the pattern exactly as is, and I have a few changes I'd make on my second one. First, I did not need the side panels. It already fell perfectly at my side, and the panels made it wrap too far to the backside, which made the back elastics too smooshed into the center back. I'd omit the side panels altogether. After it was done, I was wanting a tad more fullness in the front (so I could comfortably put my hands in the pockets), and a little less volume in the back (which may be fixed with just leaving out the side panel sections). Otherwise, it's a great, comfortable, workable pattern that I get lots of compliments on! Oh, and I added a covered button to the waistband and it gave it a fabulous accent!5 of 5 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Fast, easy & stylish! This truly is a skirt for every day! Just enough gathers to flatter without adding much fullness. I've made 2 so far and will keep making them. Depending on the fabric, it can be dressy enough for work or casual enough to replace summer shorts (and let's face it, this skirt so much cuter than shorts!) Pattern is sized well. Instructions are so easy to follow. I just returned to sewing after a 20 year break and this was one of the first things I made.4 of 4 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Nice pattern. From a pattern/drafting perspective, quality of instructions, this is a fine release. I have sewn 2 skirts now. IMO it looks nicer in a drapier fabric. I found the Aline too exaggerated and so on the second skirt I redrew the lower half of the skirt to be less pointy. I also found the back piece to be too voluminous and recommend going down a size on that piece so you have less gathering at the back.3 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Every Day SkirtThe directions were great. First time that I have used a digital pattern. I made it in pretty Amy Butler pattern. The skirt was a bit big but that was my fault because I didn't take note of measurements. Next time I will make a size smallerWas this helpful?Too much fabric in backI really like this skirt, and the pattern. I had similar issues to other reviewers. I made the size Medium (which fit the size chart), and wished I had made a small. I ended up with way to much fabric in the back, and had to cinch the elastic really tight, which makes the back bubble out. Other than that, I thought it was a great pattern and a fun project!3 of 4 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great skirtI just finished this skirt using a cotton poplin from Cloud Nine fabrics and am very happy with the result. The instructions were very easy to follow, and the sizing was perfect for me (I made an M since I fit somewhere between sizes). I found the length a bit short so made a false hem using bias tape, but that was easy enough to modify. I'm looking forward to making another one!1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Nice pattern, with unfortunate issuesThis gets stars because of the clarity of the instructions and the simplicity of how the pattern comes together.
Like so many others, though, I ran into fit issues. My measured size matched the xs perfectly, so I went with that size on the pattern (shame on me for thinking I could get away without doing a muslin). The front and side panels look fine, but there is a comical amount of fabric in the back once it's gathered with the elastic. I'm now ripping out seams to take in the back panel drastically.
The second issue is with the waistband. It's drafted as a rectangle, which would be fine if you wear the skirt at your natural waist, or if you have no inward slope above your dropped waist (1.5" below your natural waist, where the pattern says it is intended to be worn). I sewed the skirt to sit at my dropped waist, but since it's a straight waistband, it stands straight up vertically and gaps out because my waist continues to get smaller while the waistband does not. I'm going to have to do darts or hack something where the front waistband meets the elastic part to try to fix the gapping. It looks bad! It's interesting that the photos on this site have the skirt sitting at the natural waist so they don't show this problem, even when the pattern says the skirt is intended to have a dropped waist.3 of 4 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?beautifully drafted and easy to useThis skirt is very flattering and was a sinch to whip up (due to well written instructions). I plan on making it in several fabrics. I would love to see a lining tutorial or add on so I can make this in a thin fabric as well.5 of 5 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Everyday skirtEasy and quick to sew. I enjoyed very much sewing the skirt, the instructions are very clear and good. the problem is that the waist band was to large for my size and I had to fix it by reducing a great part of the side panels. next time I will go down one or two sizes. I like the skirt: it is very comfortable and I love the pockets. Made it with wool fabric. You can read and see some pictures in my blog post : http://afterbt.com/en/2015/12/everyday-skirt-for-the-cold-days/4 of 4 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Everyday SkirtVery easy and quick to sew. It was scarily large before I put the elastic in. Next time I might, not sure yet, make the back of the skirt slightly smaller to reduce the gathering a bit. Or I might just choose the next size down.5 of 5 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Perfect patternI have made 5 of these skirts and have another one under way. I have bought 3 patterns. One daughter is 5'10" size XL, another is 5'4" AND SIZE 0, I'm am 5'2" and size XL. The skirt looks good on each of us. It's easy to adjust between body types and the pattern directions are excellent. I've been sewing for 60 years and find this one of the most useful patterns I have every made. I have made almost all your little girl dress patterns too for my grandchildren, but because they outgrow them so fast, I'd rather sew something for practical wear. Love your classic style.8 of 8 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Perfect skirt for pear shape figureFinding a skirt pattern for a pear shaped figure is quite challenging but this skirt is perfect and sews together really easily. I was not sure if the pockets would add bulk and was considering omitting them but I'm glad I didn't. Definately don't size up even if you have a tummy or larger waist measurement, go by your normal size. I sewed it in a cotton lawn and it turned out great. I am a standard height of 5 foot 4 inches but did have to take up the hem by 1 1/2 inches for it to look right.7 of 7 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great easy skirtI have made 2 of these now and wear them both all the time, they are super comfy and i love the pockets (i am a hands in pockets, looking for my handkerchief kind of gal). I have taken a star off as I also made a medium based on the size guide but the small is a much better fit for me. I even improvised a lining on the second one for easy summer wear. Great skirt very happy, give it a go but consider sizing down.6 of 6 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great for BeginnersI bought this pattern for my daughter and her friends to choose from (there were 2 other patterns). One 12 year old girl has sewn it with my supervision. She loved sewing it and is very pleased with her new skirt. I enjoyed instructing her on how to sew it. I want to sew it for myself now. How about making it in plus sizes? Was this helpful?Quick, simple, and flatteringI'm currently working on my second Everyday Skirt and waiting on fabric for a third to arrive. The construction is simple and the instructions are easy to follow. My only issue is that it seems to run big- I measured for the medium, but it was roomier than I wanted. I'm hoping the small is a better fit.
I think it would be awesome if this came in a mini version for girls! I love the pockets on this piece and didn't see anything in the current O+S collection like it.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?BrilliantAbsolutely brilliant pattern, well constructed & concise instructions. I've made 2 so far & will make many more in the future. Will probably make some as Christmas gifts this year. Was this helpful?Excellent, simple patternLoved this pattern! I quilt and knit a lot but am not so experienced with sewing clothing. And, frankly, am intimidated by it. But I'd read so many good reviews of this pattern (and lve all of the oliver + s designs so much) that I decided to give it a try. And it was easy! I even made pockets! Wow! And, as an added bonus, I receive constant compliments on the skirt that I made. This will be a go to pattern for me for sure! Thanks Liesl!2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Details MatterInitially this pattern had more pieces than seemed necessary for a simple skirt, but those little bit made all the difference. The fit is great and the pocket make the skirt a real go-to item in my closet. I already have fabric for a second skirt ready to cut, and I love the chance to slip in a favorite fabric remnant for the pocket facing. Thanks for the attention to detail!2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?A new favorite skirt pattern!I bought this pattern for my 25-year old daughter, who needs skirts in a little longer length suitable for her job as an elementary school teacher. Unfortunately I had to make it without her around to try it on before finishing, so I sent it to her with the elastic pinned in place so she can adjust it as necessary, and I'll stitch it in place in 6 weeks when I see her next. Once we get the sizing customized for her (she has a small waist compared to her hip size), I'm sure this will be made many times; nice pattern with unique but easy construction.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great for beginnersFirst skirt I ever made and it turned out super cute. Sizing runs really large. I fit in an xs and usually wear a medium.4 of 4 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Love this skirt!I haven't made any patterns by this company before and it took me a few time seeing it on blogs before I bought it. I'm really glad that I did, it is a really simple pattern that looks great. I did have to try two sizes before settling on the smaller one of the two, which gives a nice fitted waist. I am loving the elastic waist as opposed to having to putting in zips and the pockets are really great. I've made a long and short version of this already and I'm sure there will be more to follow...2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?very easy skirt pattern!Easy to follow pattern and love the pockets! Was this helpful?Comfortable! This was easy to sew. Instructions were great! Very comfortable to wear. I will make several of these skirts! Was this helpful?Perfect casual skirt patternI debated buying this pattern for a while and I am so glad I finally did! I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers are talking about with this pattern because it was a super easy pattern to follow and it turned out perfectly. I love the fit. I used the size chart and went with the size small, I fell right in the middle of the size range for the small. I didn't have to make a single change to the pattern either. The side panels make the skirt super flattering to wear and the elastic waist makes it easy to wear. I made it in a lightweight chambray. I am a newer sewist, and I was able to sew this skirt in less than two days with minimal sewing time. I can't wait to make more in lots of different prints. I would definitely recommend this pattern to the beginning and experienced sewist alike.2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?I love this patternStylish. Classic. Timeless. Relaxed but not too full. I enjoyed sewing this; as usual the directions are just wonderful. I am 72 and my 44 year old daughter was so impressed that she asked me to make her one too. Since she is younger and taller, adding 6 inches to the length and subtracting 6 inches from the waist measurement was easy. It's the best skirt pattern I've ever made.2 of 2 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?LOVE this skirt!!Everything about this pattern is perfect- the fit is spot on, the directions are detailed and clear, and the style is easy to wear but still polished. Was this helpful?I absolutely love this skirt and sewing it is fun!I am literally living in this skirt, making it in so many fabrics and can't get enough. The pattern is perfect - I had no troubles anywhere matching anything so not sure where that is coming from. I am not at all an experienced garment sewer and this was a breeze. I will be buying many more of these patterns - the fit is fantastic and I'm an xs so I really appreciate finally having something that fits.

Of you want look at ganzmeinding.wordpress.comWas this helpful?Everyday SkirtThe Everyday Skirt is such a great pattern. Very flattering! I usually struggle with gaping issues in the waist area on skirts - but the fit is spot on with this pattern as it is very easy to adjust the size with the elastic in the back panel.
And the instructions are excellent - very clear and easy to follow! Was this helpful? My new favourite skirt patternBeing a 50 something woman and dealing with a 50 something figure, I was getting discouraged by other skirt patterns that were either too bulky over the hips or hard to fit over my middle. This pattern was neither of these. The side panels and the elastic in only the back half of the waistband made this skirt fit my figure better than other patterns I have tried. I made my first skirt in a (well-aged) quilt cotton and the second in a cotton and linen blend. One change I did make with my second skirt was reducing the width of the back panel by a total of 2 inches to cut down a bit of the bulk caused by the heavier weight of the fabric. The sizing was right on and the directions were extremely easy to follow. Thanks, Liesl, for another wonderful pattern!3 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Great PatternI learned to sew 5 years ago using Oliver and S patterns for my children. Liesl and Co patterns have the same wonderful instructions! Regarding style, the style of this skirt is simply fantastic. I have tried several skirt patterns (2 Colette patterns, 1 burda style, to name a few), and have always been disappointed by the fit. So many a-line skirts are just simply too bulky around the hips. Liesl and Co addressed this issue brilliantly with the side panels, and yet it still remains very fast to sew. It took me only a couple of hours and I am no expert seamstress. With this pattern, I honestly don't know if I'll ever have to buy another skirt again! Thank you.Was this helpful?Great Basic Skirt!!I love this pattern! The style is a great basic without being fuddy duddy! That says a lot in my book. Great for all ages, very versatile! I've made THREE and have plans for more as this is my 'go to' skirt pattern! Was this helpful?Great PatternI find the every day skirt a great pattern. Working with it is easy, the pattern and tutorial contains some additional info about sewingtechnics/names etc. The pattern itself and the result of my skirt is very nice. I made it in a thin jeans fabric (non stretch). Based on other reviews I measured my size (M but I always need to make patterns longer) and made a M but took it in a little. The fit was spot on!Was this helpful? Not goodI have made this skirt twice. I made it once out of a drapey rayon and another time out of chambray. First, I had to lengthen the back pattern piece so that it matched with the front (you can find this adjustment if you search blogs). I knew this when I purchased the pattern. My real problem is the way the side panel pieces stick out on the sides of the skirt- on both skirts. You can observe this also if you look at a couple of blogs. Wish I had noticed it before. Was this helpful?LOVE This SkirtI have to say, this is the first completed project I've ever made for myself. I've made oodles of things from O&S before with such great results and this one does not disappoint. I will say the sizing is off and most likely a person would have to go down a size. I normally wear a size 18 in RTW, approximately 37 in. waist, 48 in. hips and I can wear the size 16/XL very comfortably. I was not certain I could wear this skirt at first, but took the plunge anyway. The size XL is dead on perfect for me. So, possibly look at the extended measurement before you decide on a size. Was this helpful?did not flatter me.I made this skirt in a Large size. But it has too much material and does not lay very close to my body. I may make it again in a smaller size and see if I like it better. but I made the size for my measurements and it just does not flatter me at all.Was this helpful?Great simple skirt!I've only made a muslin of this particular pattern so far, as I make less time to sew for myself than my children, but I can tell by the muslin it's going to be great and a staple I return to over and over. Same great polished oliver + s aesthetic to the pattern and instructions, too. This is starting to become the first place I look for everyday patterns as frankly, sewing with commercial patterns feels like a total drag after liesl + co. and oliver + s, hahah. One note: when using sheer or lightweight fabrics you will definitely want lining of some sort, unless you have an appropriate slip or don't mind showing your panties. :)Was this helpful?love, love love this skirt. This was my first time sewing anything for myself as I usually just sew for my 3 kiddies and I loved it. I have already made myself two, one in corduroy and one in light weight cotton and I am in love with both. The instructions are so easy to follow and the results are brilliantWas this helpful?Already made multiplesI bought this pattern for my daughter, a busy mom with her hands full. She has already made two of these skirts and loves the pattern. Was this helpful?Favorite SkirtThis is my favorite skirt pattern ever! The instructions are great, and the finished product is amazing-it is so versatile! I want to keep making more and more of this skirt! Was this helpful?Beautiful In KnitI bought this pattern with the intention of sewing it in knit, even though wovens are recommended. I made my first in a stable ponte knit. It turned out great. The pattern was beautifully designed and clearly explained. I found a blog post where it was recommended to use woven interfacing on the waistband when sewing in knit to prevent stretching. This was great advice and worked well. I plan to make this in a woven next. I highly recommend this pattern. Was this helpful?Love the front!!The front of this skirt is beautiful! The pockets look so good! But GO DOWN A SIZE when you make--the extra panels at hip give plenty of room, but add too much volume in the back when too big! Overall, I'm thrilled with results--used some fabric that I've been hoarding and rinds me of an Anthro skirt I've been coveting. Was easy to put together and I want to make another. Was this helpful?Perfect pockets on the Everyday SkirtI had read previous reviews stating the sizing was generous, but still insisted on making my size as per the measurements. Next time I will be making a size small again but with an extra-small back panel lengthened to a small length. I felt there was simply too much fabric in the back panel - but perhaps it is my lack of a butt that caused the problem. A joy to sew, and the nicest looking pockets I have ever done. As always with Oliver+S or it's sister brands - if you have faith and simply follow the directions, you get a gorgeous product. I already have 2 more cut out and ready to sew.Was this helpful?Fantastic skirtThis pattern is great! I love the finished skirt. Also, the pdf pattern user experience is awesome with these. Easier to assemble than any other brand I've tried (you assemble each piece at a time instead of creating a giant sheet). I wanted it to fit on my waist and just picked the smallest size that would go over my hips, then adjusted the elastic from there. I've already made two and have plans for more...Was this helpful?Too big!Based on my measurements (size 10 Aus) I started to make a size medium. Part way through construction I realised it was going to be huge so downgraded to a size XS. The final product I am sadly still unable to wear. There is just too much fabric in the skirt for me, which doesn't suit my straight up & down figure (large waist/small hips). The gathered fabric at the front makes me look/feel larger in the waist than I already am. I tried wearing it a few times but have now given up as I feel frumpy in it. This is all very sad as the pattern was great to make & the final skirt looked lovely. Was this helpful? My go-to skirt!Still upset I didn't buy this sooner! The first one I made went together so quickly and easily that I made 2 more on the spot! On top of being easy to make, it looks professionally made and is so flattering! I have mostly made this of "everyday" wear, but did make one with silver sequined fabric and got so many complements. Was this helpful?great skirt for a noviceI made the skirt out of a pretty light wooly fabric and it turned out super cute. I'm a total beginner and I was able to understand everything very clearly. The only thing that wasn't obvious to me was the assembly of the pieces printed from y computer, but I managed to make something that worked. The small was a bit big (I normally wear a 6-8 for bottoms) and I wanted to skirt to sit at my waist so I trimmed out fabric from the back panel. It makes for a bit of a flatter bum, but next time i'll know to go for the XS. All in all, a great pattern and a great skirt. I'll be making another one (or more!) for sure. Was this helpful?Sizing issues...I have made three of these. I love he way it comes together, a quick and easy sew. I wear a size 8 off the rack, so the first one I made is a medium. It is huge. The second and third I made smalls, but I still think it looks too wide and kind of frumpy. I still wear them though, I love the pockets.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? This skirt is so easy!I've used O&S patterns before but this was my first Liesl & Co pattern that I MADE. Making this skirt was easier than I thought and it looks top notch! It's comfy and the pockets are genius and handy!! If you've been holding out on making this pattern, don't wait any longer, really. Was this helpful?Don't rely on size guideI've just finished sewing this skirt and oh, I'm so disappointed! It's my first sewing project in years. The pattern was easy to piece together and cut out. The instructions were also easy to follow and I was very happy with how the skirt was coming together. My only disappointment lies with the sizing. Based on body measurements I was a size 8-10, so made the M sized skirt per the pattern guide. It was way too big. I tried unpicking and trimming side seams, but it has turned into a complete flop. I really enjoyed sewing this skirt and feel quite glum that it hasn't worked out.3 of 3 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful? From the Discussion Forums
