Today we’re happy to introduce you to our newest blog contributor, Rachel Le Grand from Nest Full of Eggs. You might remember Rachel from some of her previous contributions here. We originally featured her two color blocked Roller Skate Dresses in Liesl’s color blocking tutorial last summer. Then Rachel applied her color blocking expertise to her tenth (!) Fairy Tale Dress and provided a fun tutorial on the process. Kristin invited Rachel back last fall to talk about her favorite Oliver + S pattern, and she returned earlier this year with a great idea for using our free Reversible Bucket Hat pattern to make a skirt for an 18-inch doll. We’ve always loved Rachel’s work and her blog, and we’re excited that she’ll be joining us regularly on the Oliver + S blog. Here’s Rachel to introduce herself.
Hello, I’m Rachel and I look forward to working as a contributor in this space. I live in Minnesota with my husband and three children. You will find me in the discussion forums as nestfullofeggs and over in the flickr group as saganaga.
I thought it would be fun to share some interesting facts about me. I started sewing with Oliver + S patterns back in December 2009. Something that Oliver + S and I have in common is that we both contributed to The BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook. If I were an Oliver + S paper doll, I would choose to wear the School Photo Dress. I share the same initials as Ralph Lauren. And I cannot live without my dark chocolate sewing snacks!
I would love to hear from you about what your favorite thing about the Oliver + S blog is. Also, is there anything you would like to see here in the future? Please do share your thoughts in the comment section below.
How exciting!! There are so many wonderful things about this site it is difficult to choose a favorite, so I’ll choose two. . . “customizing with oliver + s” and the help forum!
Congratulations Rachel, I love looking at your pictures on flickr!
Yay, welcome aboard, Rachel! 🙂
Congratulations Rachel!
So excited to see what you’ll be posting about – Your creations are so unique 🙂
I do love everything about this site, but if I have to choose a favorite it would be the “new patterns preview” – I’m quite an Oliver+S addicted 🙂
Oh, how exciting, I adore Rachel. She is so gracious and so very talented.
Her sewing is to die for.
(But I had no idea how young she was, either that or she can do a post on skin care)
Rachel, I’m just thrilled that you’re joining us! Great to get to know you better, too!
Rachel, I look forward to reading your posts! I had no idea you were from Minnesota! For some reason, I thought England! ha! I grew up on the border of WI and Minnesota. When I get around Midwesterners fall back into the accent. 😉
How exciting! I always enjoy seeing your creations Rachel, they are always unique and beautifully made. Your talents and sweet personality will certainly shine through as you embark on your journey as a contributor .
Best wishes!
~Deb~
Aw, thanks everyone!
I’m so happy to be here.
Nicole, I’ve always enjoyed your sense of humor (shh, don’t tell anyone, but the photo was taken 5 years ago, it was the last time I had an individual professional photo taken).
Okay, I won’t tell a soul.
x
Congrats, Rachel! I can’t wait to see what all you have in store for us!
