I have also found some knits to be fiddly, so sometimes I use a wide zigzag to connect the two long edges of the neckband together. This way, when I attach the band to the neckline, it works a bit more like…[Read more]

I’ve made several knit pj sets for my kids using the Schoolbus T and the Nature Walk pants or the Sandbox pants, but I thought I would use the Parachute Sweatpants this time. Because of the fabric pattern, however, I thought I would omit the side placket, and now I’m worried about my modification. I measured the placket piece (2 3/4″), tried to…[Read more]

Ha ha ha!! Mystery solved! I have been stumped: I keep ending up with a good 1 3/4 yards left over, so I finally started to search the forums. Thanks for the great explanation, Todd! I had no idea the fabric I was buying was 58″. It never occurred to me to look; I just assumed I would have to go out of my way to buy wide fabric. But my extra…[Read more]

poppy_andrew started the topic french seam for carousel sleeve? in the forum oliver + s: carousel dress

I’m working on the carousel dress, and I’m so pleased with my French seams (which are still new to me). Can I do the same to attach the sleeves? The fabric is lightweight, and I’ve read on the O&S French seam tutorial that gentle curves will work as well, but I’m still nervous about it. Any advice would be welcome! Thanks!
