our testers and their copenhagen wrap dresses

Our testers are a wonder! I’m always surprised at some of the fabrics they choose when they test upcoming patterns. I try not to give too much direction because I love their creativity and the fabrics they find that wouldn’t have occurred to me. It helps that they have access to different fabrics, so they find prints and patterns that I wouldn’t locate. That’s the great thing about sewing, isn’t it? Each item we make is unique, which means you won’t see the same dress you just made being worn someone else. (And what a relief that is!)

So let’s see what they did with our new Copenhagen Wrap Dress! If you missed it, you can also see my introductory post and fabric and styling ideas for this pattern.

Jen used a seersucker for hers, and I love the color, although she said it’s a bit too sheer. Light colors are tricky (like white trousers, right?), so keep that in mind when you’re fabric shopping. All the same, isn’t this one pretty?

Sue and Shelley both chose floral prints to great effect. In general, I don’t use prints for our pattern photos so you can see the details better, so I’m always thrilled when the testers choose prints to show you how the patterns look in patterned fabrics.

Maria chose this gorgeous drapey crepe, which I just adore. The result is so elegant, doesn’t it? This dress would be really versatile–you could wear it almost everywhere, including for really dressy events! Meanwhile, Erica found this amazing exploded-print cotton lawn, which is just perfect for a dress style like this! Why aren’t more large-scale prints available for apparel? Marimekko fabrics would be wonderful! I love these vibrant colors, too!

What fabrics are you considering for yours? If you need help, keep in mind that we have a terrific on-line shopping resource to connect you with a wide variety of shops all over the world. I’m eager to see what you choose.

I can’t wait to see how you sew this style! You know I love to see how you make our patterns your own, with your own fabric and styling ideas. You can pick up a copy of the Copenhagen Wrap Dress for yourself in paper or in digital format. I hope you’ll tag us #lieslandco and #copenhagenwrapdress so we can see what you do with it!
