new oliver + s singles: just the basics

When we develop a new pattern, I like to think in terms of outfits. Almost all our patterns are sold as outfits, so the pants have a shirt and the blouses have a skirt (or pants or shorts). Not that you can’t mix and match our patterns as separates, of course, but I think it’s nice to be able to get a full outfit out of a pattern. I recognize, though, that sometime you don’t need the whole outfit, and you might just want the basics. I mean, every kid needs T-shirts, right? Because of that, we’ve started packaging some of our basic patterns individually as part of our Oliver + S Singles line. This way, instead of buying a pattern for the entire outfit, you can purchase just the pieces you need.

Just recently, we added the Raglan T-Shirt (from the Field Trip pattern), the Leggings (from the Playtime pattern), and the Bloomers (from the Tea Party and Seashore patterns) to our Oliver + S Singles collection.

And just to get you thinking creatively about all the things you can do with these basics, I thought it would be fun to re-visit the Raglan T-shirt and the Leggings to show some examples of how these two patterns can be customized and altered to create additional looks from the same pattern. You know, a little inspiration to get you thinking of all the ways you might use them.

So stay tuned for some ideas! I should also mention that we’ll be adding additional basics to the Oliver + S Singles collection in the near future, and some of them will be available exclusively in this format. We’re working on a basic T-shirt, for those of you who have been asking for one. And there will be a few surprises in there, too.
