holiday help from your friendly neighorhood elf

Hey, it’s me! Your friendly neighborhood sewing elf with a few quick reminders about some of the fun projects and tools that are available to you on our website as you’re preparing for the holidays.

First of all, our free mitten ornament pattern is a fun little project that makes a great gift. I made a mitten-ornament advent calendar for S when she was really little, and it’s still going strong. (Although S no longer fills it herself with leftover Halloween candy. She’s wising up on me, I guess.)

Also, a couple of years ago we made up these fun, free printable measurement charts that can be especially useful as you’re busy sewing away in preparation for the holidays. Everyone’s measurements at your finger-tips: how handy is that?

And you can keep track of your fabric stash with our handy printable swatch cards.

You might find our bow hair ties to be a useful stocking stuffer. Or the perfect final touch to a holiday outfit.

Likewise, our felt bows make great barrettes. Or perhaps a barrette gift topper for two gifts in one?

And a fabric-covered headband pulls it all together and acts as the perfect spot to highlight those hair ties or felt bows.

Oh, and shoelaces! These are great stocking-stuffers. They’re really fast to make, make good use of the last few inches of that pretty printed fabric you have left, and might be a good gift for the boys if you’re making hair ties for the girls?

And finally, I had completely forgotten about our gift certificates until we got a call from a very nice gentleman yesterday who was doing his holiday shopping. Gift certificates enable the receiver to choose his or her preferred patterns and sizes (and delivery method: paper or digital?). But most important, they allow the receiver to create his or her own user name and password on our site in order to have continuous access to digital patterns and be able to track orders, etc.

They also make great last-minute gifts. Just saying.
