upcoming classes and events

I had such a lot of fun teaching at the Modern Quilt Guild’s Philadelphia Sew Down last weekend! My class focused on adding texture to textiles, which I seem to do a lot these days. Between smocking and pleating and gathering and shirring and flouncing, we explored quite a few ideas, and it was lots of fun to see what everyone did with their samples. There were some really creative quilt blocks that developed, and lots of oohs and aahs when I showed how it’s done. Patternmaking and quilting can be friends, believe it or not!

Since quite a few people didn’t know about the MQG event, I thought I’d give you a little advance notice of a few more events that are coming up:

This Monday I’ll be talking with Pat Sloan on her radio show. It’s always fun to chat with Pat (hey, that rhymes!), and if you’re not free at 4:00 ET you can always catch up with the podcast afterward. We’ll be talking about some exciting new projects, too, so listen if you want to know what’s coming up next!

Also, on September 28 I’ll be teaching a fit class with our newest Lisette for Simplicity pattern, the Attache, at Rock Paper Scissors in Montclair, NJ. This will be fun because you can choose to make either the dress or the peplum top, whichever you prefer. Class size is limited, but we’d be delighted to have you join us!

Also, for those of you on the west coast, I’m headed to Los Angeles in early January for a whole series of classes, which is going to be so fun! Stay tuned for details, but keep the weekend of January 10-12 open. We quite a wide variety of classes and activities planned, and it’s also the same weekend as the Craft and Hobby Association conference, if you’re planning to attend that show.

Sound good? More events to come, and I’ll post them soon. Can’t wait to see you!
